All Elite Wrestling has a roster stacked with talented women. While names like Mercedes Mone and Kris Statlander stand out, there are some who are pushing their way into the spotlight. One such performer is Harley Cameron. Cameron continues to garner fan support, and she’s a testament to what can happen when a promotion gives a performer the space to grow in their role.
It seems like she’s come out of nowhere, but Harley Cameron’s rise to becoming one of the most popular performers in AEW has been hilarious and well-timed. Cameron went from enhancement talent to stable member, to standing on her own in less than three years. Suddenly, she’s standing across from Mercedes Mone, claiming that the dominant TBS Champion is going to “Feel the Wrath” at AEW Grand Slam in Australia. Cameron’s not going to win that match, but her rise to the top is a reminder of what makes AEW great.
Harley Cameron a surprise gift of the AEW women’s division
Harley Cameron is a testament to why AEW is important to the business. Cameron was originally looking to sign to WWE, and it’s hard to see her getting the opportunity to stand out in that company. Signing with AEW in 2023 was the right move, because she’s become an important part of the women’s division.
Even though she doesn’t have the experience of other performers on the roster, she’s found a way to stand out enough that fans go out of their way to see her segments. Her segment with the Mercedes Mone puppet on the February 12 episode of AEW Dynamite was one of the most talked about segments coming out of the show. Cameron may not have the ability to go bell-to-bell with some of the top names, but her character holds up next to anyone.
Harley Cameron has the potential to be a champion
Will Harley Cameron defeat Mercedes Mone in her home country? While it would be a fun moment to witness, it’s not happening. Mone remains undefeated in AEW and that first victory over her will go to someone who is planned to be the pillar of the division. But it’s going to be fun watching Cameron try.
She has all the potential to be a women’s champion in AEW. She’s shown a willingness to do nearly anything necessary to get over with the fans, and AEW’s fanbase often rewards performers for that effort. She doesn’t need to be a champion who goes on a massive run but seeing her find a way to defeat one of the top names in the company would be a “feel good” moment if ever in AEW.
Harley Cameron has become a popular name in AEW’s women’s division. The group is already packed with talent, so it is interesting to see Cameron find her way to rise to the top. The fans are backing her and there’s no limit to how far that support can carry her.
