Trigger Warning for sexual abuse pertaining to the allegations in the lawsuit.

On Tuesday, Janel Grant's attorneys made a new filing in the Connecticut state court against Dr. Carlon Colker and Peak Wellness. Colker was on Vince McMahon's payroll and it is alleged that Grant was coerced by McMahon to go to Peak Wellness 60 times between 2019 and 2022 because she was experiencing "symptoms of severe stress and trauma due to her abuse."

The filing alleges that Grant was treated with unknown substances, both that were ingested and given intravenously. In July, her team filed a bill of discovery request against Colker and Peak Wellness in order to obtain her full electronic medical records, billing records, and any communications between Colker and McMahon regarding Grant. Both Colker and McMahon attempted to block the bill of discovery from proceeding. McMahon's attempt to block it was denied by the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut on August 6, 2024.

The press release from Grant's team points out that all paitents have rights to their own medical records "under federal and state law, including HIPAA, the Cures Act, and Connecticut General Statutes § 20-7c." During a press conference on Tuesday, Grant's attorney, Ann Callis, said that after the bill of discovery was filed, Colker "sent a few things, but it is still incomplete."

The new filing is asking for eight categories of records from Peak Wellness, including:

  • Ms. Grant’s electronic medical records, including all associated metadata;
  • Dr. Colker and Peak Wellness’ recordkeeping and billing procedures;
  • Payment records relating to Ms. Grant; Dr. Colker and Peak Wellness’ payment arrangements with McMahon and/or WWE;
  • The purpose of Ms. Grant’s prescribed treatments;
  • The substance of Ms. Grant’s prescribed treatments;
  • Any communications between Dr. Colker and McMahon relating to Ms. Grant; and
  • Dr. Colker’s involvement in recommending Ms. Grant’s attorney for negotiation of the purported non-disclosure agreement.

Tuesday's filing also confirms information from Grant's original lawsuit in January. In the lawsuit, she alleged that an employee of a medical facilty engaged in sexual activity with McMahon and herself in which she was defecated on by McMahon and forced her to continue "engaging in a sexual act with the Peak Wellness employee." The filing alleges that employee was a physical therapist who repeatedly sexually abused her.

'Janel was desperate for medical help'

During the press conference, Callis said that Grant sought treatment, but never got better and was in fact, getting worse. She reminded everyone that Grant suffered abuse "on a nearly daily basis for more than two years." She went on to say that due to the abuse she suffered, she was "desperate for medical help and she trusted licensed professionals to approach her care with the utmost seriousness. Dr. Colker violated medical and ethical standards and routinely broke the doctor/patient trust intregal to proper treatment."

"When Janel needed medical care due to Vince McMahon's sexual and emotional abuse, McMahon made her go to clinic called Peak Wellness, where one of her abusers worked. She was receving treatment there from November 2019 to Apriil 2022 at the direction of McMahon. The abuser at the clinic was a physical therapist and a third person involved in the incident where McMahon defecated on Janel's head and continued to force her to engage in sexual acts with the Peak Wellness employee."

Callis said that Grant has been trying to access her records since February. Attorney Erica Nolan said they believe that Colker is withholding her records because "they may prove that he and Peak Wellness were involved in McMahon's abuse, explotation, and violence agaisnt Janel. Additionally these records are key to whether Dr. Colker engaged in civil conspiracy, falsifying medical records, aiding and abetting fraud, RICO violations, RICO conspiracy, assualt, battery, and/or breaches of fiduciary duty against Janel and could lead to additional legal actions against him."

"We aim to hold all parties accountable to the fullest extent of the law, ensuring those who created, perpetuated, concealed, and benefitted from Janel's abuse never have the opporutinty to hurt anyone else. Janel would like to expedite all proceedings as quickly as possible and welcomes the possibility of additional charges from federal prosecutors. Dr. Colker and Peak Wellness, much like McMahon, Laurinaitis, and WWE failed Janel."

"In a time of serious trauma due to years of sexual abuse and human trafficking at the hands of McMahon and Laurinaitis, Janel was forced to undergo undisclosed treatements at a clinic in which one of her abusers worked. Janel deserves her day in court. Janel deserves justice."

'We will not leave any stone unturned'

During the press conference, Callis was asked if the WWE Board knew of Grant's 60 visits to Peak Wellness. Callis is unsure because when the Board was doing their internal investigation, Grant made herself available to be interviewed and then she learned that the investigation was closed and cleared without them speaking to her.

Callis was also asked if it was plausible to take away that they were looking into whether or not Colker and/or Peak Wellness supported a sex trafficking effort involving McMahon. Callis said that they are "seeking these records because we believe that there could be very serious allegations amended to our complaint."

McMahon is connected to very high profile people. Callis was asked if there were any of these people that they wouldn't "compel to be part of this trial." She said they filed this lawsuit knowing who McMahon is. "We can guarantee that there will not be a stone unturned in our pursuance of seeking justice for Janel. We won't be intimidated."

Grant's lawsuit was stayed due to the Department of Justice's own investigation. The stay is in place until December 2024.
