Killer Kross in AEW: Would it work

He may not be Karrion Kross any longer, but the name known as Killer Kross was once one of the most talked about wrestlers this year. But fans are still wondering if he will show up in AEW.

Rewind the clock a few months back and Karrion Kross was one of the most talked about wrestlers in the business. So much so that his contract negotiations and release were seen as a huge "work" to outsmart the WWE fan base and media members that cover the promotion. That furvor has died down and there's speculation about where Kross may turn up full time. All Elite Wrestling would be an interesting prospect of a next step.

It has been a few months since Kross last appeared in WWE. At SummerSlam he took a loss to Sami Zayn, kicking off what would be a swath of speculation about what was next in his career. Many thought that the entire thing was a work, masterminded by Triple H. That same narrative started when R-Truth was released months ago, and look how that played out.

Now that Killer Kross is a freelancer, he's appeared in several organizations. He's popped up in companies like House of Glory and others. He recently teamed with Darby Allin on October 3, and that booking created an interesting question for Tony Khan while speaking with Ariel Helwani. Khan didn't insinate that Kross to AEW was a thing, but he did not close the door on the idea that he could show up in All Elite Wrestling.

Would Killer Kross work in AEW? That's an interesting question to unpack. AEW is known as the place "Where the best wrestle." Looking up and down the roster, there are several men and women who can "go" from bell-to-bell, putting on some of the best matches of the year. Fans can turn on a typical episode of AEW Dynamite or Collision and see a match that is at the top of the list when rankings come in.

Kross doesn't fit in that group. He's a great entertainer, but actual wrestler? The verdict doesn't seem to give him that description. On Cagematch, he has only one match at an 8 or above, and that was the multi-man match in WWE NXT that featured Adam Cole, Johnny Gargano, Kyle O'Reilly, and Pete Dunne. Quite the group project.

But as a character? This is where Killer Kross could be a huge benefit to AEW. During the latter portion of his time with WWE, his character work was the main thing that generated so much interest from the fans who claimed he wasn't getting the push he deserved. He played his role perfectly, one that with the right creative development, could have led to some interesting sports entertainment. As with many things, WWE did not take advantage of that build and that momentum quickly died down.

There's no telling if Killer Kross will ever show up in AEW full-time. He has some value to the company and it would be interesting to see how he'd fit into the roster. Would the WWE fans who championed him follow to watch? Perhaps, but there's only one way to find out.
