Bryan Danielson is the AEW World Champion. The greatest wrestler in the world has the greatest pro wrestling championship in the industry. Fans will get to cheer Danielson as he does battle before the end of his long-beloved career. With that title in tow, here are three big matches for Danielson before his time as AEW World Champion is over.

Zack Sabre Jr.

Zack Sabre Jr and Bryan Danielson have an equal record against each other. It’s time for the rubber match. Danielson picked up the first win at WrestleDream in 2023, and ZSJ responded with a win of his own at NJPW: The New Beginning. Both matches were excellent, potentially pitting the two best grapplers in the world against each other. This is a match that must be re-visited during Danielson’s time as champion.

The question is how to get there. ZSJ won the G1 Climax and is headed for a title shot at Wrestle Kingdom. NJPW wouldn’t want to see him lose along the way to that match, and Danielson will not suddenly drop the title to a wrestler not signed in AEW. If there’s a way to make it happen, the promoters must find that solution because this is a match that needs to happen.

Konosuke Takeshita

Konosuke Takeshita is a superstar, regardless of the fact that he’s not booked as one. If All Elite Wrestling plans to keep him on the roster, the company needs to find a way to make him a bigger deal. Takeshita would not be the guy to defeat Danielson, but man would this be a Match of the Year candidate the second it was announced.

Daniel Garcia

There was a time when it looked like Daniel Garcia was poised to turn on Chris Jericho and align himself with Danielson. However, the “Jericho Vortex” activated, sucking Garcia in, and draining all his momentum. It’s taken Garcia quite a bit of time to get out of that vacuum, but he’s finally heading toward a big angle against MJF. If Garcia comes out of that with a win, it makes sense for him to charge headfirst into a battle with Danielson. Garcia picked up a big win over the champion in July 2022. Danielson got the win back two-fold, but there’s still a story to tell there. One that could see Garcia finally get into a main event position that would set him on a course that fans have wanted to see with him for years.
