AEW’s women’s division is on a strong run. Since Mercedes Mone joined the promotion, the momentum continues to grow. Mariah May is the new champion and after a strong build as Toni Storm’s second, she’s set to have a big run of her own. AEW has depth within its women’s roster and here are three women who should be on the short list of future champions to hold either the Women’s World or TBS Championship.

Queen Aminata

Queen Aminata has all the goods. She looks the part. Comes with experience. Character delivers well on television. And she’s a hard-hitting wrestler who can keep the pace with anyone. During the AEW All Out preshow, she saved Skye Blue from an attack at the hands of Mariah May, hopefully putting her in the title picture for a moment. She’s had a strong run on Ring of Honor, and long before that, she was a beloved figure across the independent circuit. It’s time that AEW television saw more of Queen Aminata.

Kamille

Kamille is the type of talent a company signs with the intention of her being a champion at some point. She’s not a background figure. Her run in NWA helped establish her, even though it is a company that doesn’t have the same level of depth as All Elite Wrestling. Now that she’s in AEW, there’s a big potential to see her work with some of the best in the world. At some point, she will be in the title picture and expect her to capture a singles championship.

ATHENA

It’s time. ATHENA continues to dominate Ring of Honor as the featured performer on that show. But enough is enough. Tony Khan needs to find a way to get her on television on a weekly basis. She was the Daily DDT 2023 Women’s Wrestler of the Year and she hasn’t slowed down one bit in 2024. She has the ability to be a top performer and hold either championship on the “main roster.” At this point, it’s a huge shame that she doesn’t get the same level of booking as the male champions in ROH. But once that opportunity comes to her, she’s going to steal the show.
