The next steps for the Wyatt Sicks in WWE
Excitement was high when the Wyatt Sicks made their debut on Monday Night Raw. After weeks of teasers, the group struck hard, lashing out at Chad Gable. This led to weeks of storytelling between the groups, with Gable forming American Made with members formerly of Diamond Mine. But it’s been nearly a month since Uncle Howdy defeated Gable and two weeks since The Wyatt Sicks defeated American Made in a mixed street fight. The question is “what’s next” for the big group and that is a difficult one to answer.
This has always been the difficult part about the Wyatt family and the characters mixed within it. At its essence, professional wrestling and sports entertainment are about men and women competing to become champions. They are chasing after the spoils, riches, and the legacy that comes with obtaining multiple championships.
WWE has long fancied itself as telling stories within that pursuit. However, Wyatt’s characters, first Bray and now Bo, are not motivated at the thought of being a champion. Bray was initially motivated by causing carnage. Bo as Uncle Howdy looks to continue honoring his brother by cutting down those who defile the idea of “family.”
While a notable cause, that has nothing to do with championships. So, who and what should be next for the Wyatt Sicks? That’s a difficult question to answer because there aren’t any clear opponents to continue that narrative. Perhaps this group could go after the men and women that made up The Way? Candice LeRae rebuffed the idea of Nikki Cross being a part of their “family” and Dexter Lumis was quietly pushed away. The Wyatt Sicks are tied to Monday Night Raw while that other group of performers is on SmackDown, but that can easily be explained away if given the proper time on television.
But again, the same issue would raise its head. Is this group chasing after titles? Are they just here to cause carnage? What’s the end goal? That’s the story that WWE must tell, even as the promotion focuses more on a sports-based presentation. These are questions that Triple H will have to answer to convince fans to remain interested in the members of the Wyatt Sicks.
