The Unholy Union need the win the most at WWE Bash in Berlin
WWE Bash in Berlin is set for August 31. This event looks to continue the trend of major international showcases that sell out and get rave reviews from viewers. While GUNTHER stands to be featured in the main event, the five-match card looks strong from start to finish. Looking at all the names competing, The Unholy Union stands out as the act that needs the victory the most.
Yes, on a card that features names like Kevin Owens, Randy Orton, CM Punk, Drew McIntyre, and others – it is Isla Dawn and Alba Fyre who need the wins the most. Why? Because every other competitor on this show is a made man or woman, cemented in their status on the roster. Dawn and Fyre can quickly fall back to the catering circuit the minute they do not have the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship around their waists.
Fyre and Dawn picked up the titles with a win in a triple threat match back at WWE Clash at the Castle. It was a powerful moment for the homegrown duo, especially for Fyre who was still reeling from the death of her mother days before. Before that match, they had one match on the June 10th edition of WWE Raw. That was their first televised match since the Elimination Chamber battle royale on February 19. Before winning the titles, they had only three televised matches this year. That says a lot about how well-booked the champions were before they earned those titles.
Looking back at that data shows just what would happen if they did not find a way to keep the titles after the PLE. Triple H has done a lot of good work with the creative direction of WWE Raw and SmackDown. But what he has yet to do is build out the women’s division to feature enough angles outside the title picture. The men’s division has several stories that do not feature titles. The women have yet to get that same consideration. So, Dawn and Fyre would have very little do to if they weren’t holding titles.
The women’s tag team division isn’t as built up as it should be. Is there progress happening in that direction? Kinda. Damage CTRL and the PFC battled once again on WWE Raw, but there aren’t too many feuds going on outside of that on either show. There aren’t any. Are there other teams that could be used? Yes. Duos like Indi Hartwell and Candice LeRae, Chelsea Green and Piper Niven, Katana Chance, and Kayden Carter, and others are right there. Unfortunately, they just don’t get the time. Dawn and Fyre run the risk of falling into that same group if they aren’t in a title program.
There’s a lot of star power on the Bash in Berlin card. With all the stakes and storylines to come, no other act needs to win as badly as The Unholy Union. Their entire push depends on it.
