The story being told between Xavier Woods and Kofi Kinston is one of the more compelling aspects of WWE Monday Night Raw. The potential split of The New Day is an idea that has the vast majority of fans split. Some want to see it go down to give both men something different. While others want The New Day to remain a force in the tag team division. It seems like the breakup is coming, but one thing is clear. The WWE misses Big E.

Karrion Kross may have done enough to cause a split within the most beloved tag team in recent memory. Along with E, Woods and Xavier were an important stable – not only for what they did in the ring, but for what they represented outside of it. They are a trio of Black men who were almost forgotten about, even though they each had strong legacies and following in the industry. KofiMania was a moment that gave Kingston his respect as a performer, but also set the path that allowed professional wrestling to enjoy championship reigns for Big E, Bobby Lashley, Carmelo Hayes, Trick Williams, and perhaps even Swerve Strickland in All Elite Wrestling. They are icons in the space and deserve to be recognized as such.

But it’s been two years since Big E stepped into the ring to compete. He shows up during pre-shows, and he looks great working out in the gym. Still, there doesn’t seem to be any good news about a potential return. At this point, the best is to wish Big E the best in living a long and happy life after recovering from what could have been a life-stealing accident.

This story is wrapped up in the fact that both Woods and Kingston miss Big E. Thanks to Kross’s voice in his ear, Woods is feeling inadequate, while Kingston continues to look for ways to bring the duo an advantage as they face growing numbers on WWE Raw. It is interesting to see both men express the pain of being without their brother in arms for so long.

Not only do Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston miss Big E’s ability to watch their back in the ring, but WWE misses the big personality that he presented for the company. His ability to flip the switch from a destroyer to a hilarious act was a trait that few can duplicate. Big E is one of those rare superstars that WWE could have built around as an attraction for years to come.

“What could have been,” is the sad part when thinking about the last few years of The New Day. This story is built around the angle that Woods and Kingston are struggling without their partner. But it’s clear that everyone misses Big E.
