Memorial Day Weekend featured two big shows with AEW Double or Nothing and WWE King & Queen of the Ring. There was a lot of fantastic professional wrestling and much to watch for coming out of the two showcase events. These are the top three stories to watch heading into the week.

MJF’s big return to All Elite Wrestling

AEW truly needed a shot in the arm and that came early in Double or Nothing. MJF returned and had a lot to say. He made it clear that he’s AEW and not going anywhere, even showing the world the new tattoo on his lower leg. But it was interesting what he had to say about the end of his championship run, burying much of the booking and story being told. If this is truly a “return” to MJF of yore, then fans will want him slotted at the top of the card. But how will that impact the rest of the show that has drastically changed during his absence?

WWE and Becky Lynch

Liv Morgan’s Revenge Tour reached a new height as she defeated Becky Lynch for the WWE Women’s World Championship. Lynch demanded a title rematch which if approved, will come on the May 27 edition of WWE Raw. If Morgan picks up another victory over Lynch, that will build questions about Lynch’s next steps as her contract nears an end. Lynch is one of the biggest stars in the world and everyone is watching closely to see what is next for her. After all her contributions, whatever she decides is best for her, she deserves.

New King and Queen Crowned

The 2024 edition of the King and Queen of the Ring had stakes. The winners of each tournament are now guaranteed title shots at SummerSlam on August 3. Nia Jax and Gunther took their seats on the throne, and now the question is how WWE will keep them hot with a little more than two months to go until their big matches. Both individuals performed well throughout the tournament and are expected to win the titles, but there’s a need to keep them interesting along the way – especially Jax. This will be something to watch in the weeks to come.
