The August 5 edition of WWE Raw was an action-packed episode that left many calling it the best in recent memory. While that opinion is up for debate, there was one huge moment that caught a lot by surprise. Bronson Reed’s absolute destruction of Seth Rollins was a moment that no one saw coming, but it was one that was necessary. Reed is a figure that should be a dominating threat at the top of the card, and now he finally feels like one. WWE must keep this momentum rolling to something big in the future.

Reed dropped six tsunamis on Rollins, leaving him spitting up blood as the crowd both cheered and sang his theme song. Moments prior to that, Reed made it clear that he intended to do something to spark a change in his fortunes and this was the perfect way to do so. It’s being reported that this segment was used to write Rollins off television as he deals with a chronic injury. While he’s out, Reed needs to get all the big wins necessary to make him a formidable foe for Rollins when he returns.

There was a lot of kerfuffle when Reed was left off Elimination Chamber a few months back. The show was set for his home country, but due to Rollins getting hurt and Reed welcoming in a baby with his partner, the timing just didn’t work out. Since then, it’s felt like Reed has been in a holding pattern. Fans wanted to see more from him on a weekly basis, but just like many others on the roster, he just didn’t get the opportunity. That was until August 5.

This moment felt a lot like when Reed made his first appearance in TNA, squashing Josh Alexander through the mat. That would lead to a strong run outside the WWE, including some time in New Japan that included a big win over Kazuchika Okada.

Reed has what it takes to be a top-level heel. But he’s seeing this push at a time when Bron Breakker and GUNTHER are set to be dominant champions. So where does Reed go while Rollins is out hurt? There aren’t a lot of available babyfaces not wrapped up in their own angles. Jey Uso and Sami Zayn are potential foils, but they are heading for a big moment when they return to Roman Reigns’s side. Perhaps Reed can spend a few weeks decimating Rey Mysterio and The LWO in proper fashion, picking up wins on a weekly basis. It would be amazing for him to be involved in an angle with CM Punk. Hopefully, that is one to come down the line.

Viewers and those in attendance left excited about what’s to come with Bronson Reed. After smashing a former champion through the mat, WWE must keep the momentum rolling for someone who can be a huge threat to the entire roster.
