If Daniel Garcia does not re-sign with All Elite Wrestling, WWE must do everything in its power to bring him into the fold.

2024 has been an interesting year in free agency across professional wrestling. Several top names have jumped from one organization to the next. Individuals like Mercedes Mone, Kazuchika Okada, Ethan Page, Giulia, and others have changed employers, setting the stage for new matchups. There’s one performer whose contract status has been a major talking point as of late. That is AEW’s Daniel Garcia. His appearance at All In and match at All Out made many believe he’d signed a new contract. New reports say that’s not the case. If the door is open, WWE should go all out to bring him into the fold.

At AEW All Out on September 7, MJF defeated Daniel Garcia in a violent and exceptional match. This came after MJF attempted to injure Garcia with a piledriver off the top rope. It surprised many that MJF got the pin, as the thought was that Garcia had re-signed with the company. Garcia got some of his “heat” back by attacking MJF after the match, but that booking decision was immediately questioned.

Ibou of Wrestlepurists noted that the original plan was for Garcia to win, but due to him not signing a new contract, the outcome was changed. Fightful Select confirmed that report and mentioned that a new contract was presented to Garcia, with the hopes that he’d sign it before All Out.

If Garcia is heading toward free agency, WWE must go full-court press to get him into the company. He’s everything that a wrestling promotion should want in a star for the future. He’s 26 years old and capable of being a main event performer and character immediately. There were many times it looked like AEW was preparing to give him the proverbial “keys to the kingdom.” Unfortunately, that momentum was severely cut, including being caught in the Jericho Vortex.

Imagine a run for Daniel Garcia in WWE. Starting with NXT, he could easily get booked right into the championship picture, taking that title from his own. He wouldn’t need to spend much time there, as both Monday Night Raw and SmackDown could use a performer of his level. Think about some of the potential matches. Garcia versus the likes of Ilja Dragunov, Bron Breakker, Carmelo Hayes, or Andrade would get the blood boiling of fans around the world. He would certainly be a pillar of the promotion’s future.

Daniel Garcia has proven he has everything it takes to be a main event talent. If he doesn’t re-sign with All Elite Wrestling, playing the free agency market would benefit his career. WWE must make all the efforts to sign him, as he is a star of the future – regardless of where he signs next.
