WWE is stacking the first Monday Night Raw of 2024 and it is shaping up to be a strong show. Creative under Triple H has turned a positive corner, and the card plus its booking for WWE Raw Day 1 is a strong showcase for what the year has the potential to bring.

WWE Raw Day 1 Card (Subject to Change:

  • Seth Rollins versus Drew McIntyre in a singles match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship
  • Rhea Ripley versus Ivy Nile in a singles match for the WWE Women’s World Championship
  • Becky Lynch versus Nia Jax in a singles match
  • Natalya & Tegan Nox versus Shanya Baszler & Zoey Stark in a number one contender’s match for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship

Seth Rollins and Drew McIntyre have delivered on a strong angle. McIntyre is the perfect “heel” who is entirely right in his position. He walked the straight and narrow, and that led to him being screwed over by The Bloodline time and time again. Now, he’s staking a claim to what he’s rightfully earned in comparison to his peers. Will he be the one to defeat Rollins and take that championship off his waist, probably not – but it is still captivating to watch McIntyre’s performance in this role.

Ivy Nile slowly grew on fans in WWE NXT and that same charm has carried over to WWE Raw. Along with The Creed Brothers, she’s one of the better well-received acts since the latest draft. She won’t be the woman to defeat Ripley, her reign is too important at this time, but expect this to be a highlight match for Nile and she will remain an upper-midcard babyface in that women’s division for a long while.

Becky Lynch versus Nia Jax is the step before Lynch makes it clear that she’s coming for the women’s championship. She and Ripley are expected to be one of the “main events” for WrestleMania 40. That would pit the two biggest names in the women’s division against each other for what should be an excellent match. Lynch and Jax have a story to tell and the build to this match has also been great. Lynch will get a great match out of Jax.

Fans have continued to call for WWE to do better booking the women’s division and this match between Natalya/Nox and Baszler/Stark is a step in the right direction. It will be a good match, with four women who can work, but both teams should be expected to fall to the new champions of Kayden Carter and Katana Chance.

This is a big show and the perfect way to kick off the new year. WWE has momentum heading into Royal Rumble and WrestleMania season. This is the right show, with the right amount of promotion, to build on that and push the company toward a strong January.
