WWE Monday Night Raw has a packed main event picture. While GUNTHER is the WWE World Heavyweight Champion, Seth Rollins and company are running wild as perhaps the featured story. Factions tend to be a popular attraction in professional wrestling, and this group certainly caught everyone’s attention when it was first introduced. Now, there are rumors of it expanding which would be an interesting development in many ways.
Seth Rollins has found himself aligned with Paul Heyman, Bron Breakker, and Bronson Reed. At first glance, this is an intriguing group because it takes someone who is a major star for WWE in Rollins and pairs him with a young performer in Breakker and an immediate threat in Reed. This is the type of faction meant to build names for the current storyline while creating stars for the future.
Comparisons to Evolution make sense. The group that brought together Randy Orton, Ric Flair, Batista, and Triple H successfully took those four figures and used them perfectly to push Orton and Batista to new levels. Both men went on to become multiple-time champions and eventual Hall of Famers.
The same could happen with Rollins’s group today. Breakker has all the makings of being a main event star for years to come. Do not be surprised if he and Rollins eventually main event a PLE, battling over the World Heavyweight Championship. Reed is in a slightly different spot, where it does not seem like WWE will ever position him as a top champion. But a midcard championship should be in his future, and this faction is one way to help him get there.
Ricky Saints and Ethan Page are rumored as potential members of Seth Rollins’s faction
Bodyslam.net has reported that more names may be added to the group in the future. Two individuals who have come up are Ethan Page and Ricky Starks. This became a popular topic on social media as fans discussed why this would or would not work for both men. Regardless of where one may fall on that debate, it is an interesting conversation to have.
Ethan Page is the type of performer who could benefit in this spot. He’s been main event ready for a long time, but he fit in NXT as a veteran performer in a locker room packed with younger talent. Page can talk and can work well enough in the ring to carry a match. He doesn’t feel like a main event performer on the main roster, and putting him in this faction would shine a light on that. He’d fill in a role as the scapegoat for the group, and one has to wonder how much that would help or hurt his position in the company.
Ricky Saints is compelling in the other direction. Saints’s biggest supporters want to see him as a main event star. Many felt that he could be that in All Elite Wrestling, but those opportunities were kept from him. Now, he’s in WWE but felt slightly out of place in NXT. He had a strong start, but he’s dropped the NXT North American Championship and hasn’t been seen since. This has led to many to think a call up is waiting, but can those fans trust that Triple H will ensure he’s booked in an effective fashion? That’s a tough question and one that doesn’t come with a clear answer.
Factions are always a fun part of professional wrestling. When used right, they can elevate performers to the highest levels. Seth Rollins has built a great group around him. One that can further the careers of everyone involved. Ricky Saints and Ethan Page are two men rumored to be joining and perhaps their inclusion will have the same impact on their growth in WWE.
