On the May 5th episode of Raw, Sheamus won the US Title in a battle royal, last eliminating then-champion Dean Ambrose. Since then, Sheamus has had some sparkling title defenses against Cesaro, but he’s still mired in an unfavorable spot with that US Title.
The rivalry with Miz started when Miz and Sheamus were set to be on opposite sides of a six-man tag match on Raw this past Monday, but Miz removed himself and inserted his stunt double, Damien Mizdow, into the match in his place. Mizdow shocked the world and rolled Sheamus up to get his team the win.
That win helped Miz earn this title shot that takes place this Sunday.
Let’s get to the predictions from Rob Wolkenbrod, Jordan Campbell, Carl Gac, Becca Cook, Callum Wiggins, and Mike Smith:
Rob’s Take: I’m very much looking forward to this one. Sheamus’ PPV matches always produce something quality and Miz’s character is very entertaining.
Miz’s stunt double, Damien Mizdow, is very over with the crowd right now and there’s been some hints at Miz being jealous about this. Could we see a face turn from Mizdow? My guess is yes. I see it somehow costing Miz the match against Sheamus and sending the two A-listers into a program of their own.
Rob’s Prediction: Sheamus
Jordan’s Take: The only reason why the booking between The Miz and Sheamus is entertaining is because of Damien Mizdow, The Miz has been buried and there is no reason to think that won’t change on Sunday. Sheamus wins.
Jordan’s Prediction: Sheamus
Carl’s Take: This will be little more than a bit of comedy. How can having Mizdow involved be anything less? It will be entertaining no doubt. I can see the Mizdow factor being decisive to help his boss become the new champ.
Carl’s Prediction: The Miz
Becca’s Take: Oops, I forgot this was a match. Damien Mizdow will win.
Becca’s Prediction: Damien Mizdow
Callum’s Take: It says something about the state of a championship when the challenger’s lackey is the most over part of it. Sheamus has done nothing as champion bar a few excellent matches with Cesaro, and the Miz is being outdone by his stunt double Damien Mizdow. In the realm of fantasy, I would like to see Mizdow get inserted into the match and pick up a fluke win by pinning Miz, setting off his face turn with the US belt. But realistically, Sheamus will win so he can become another high-profile stepping stone in the rise of Rusev.
Callum’s Prediction: Sheamus
Mike’s Take: I think that Sheamus gets the win here. However, I think most of the focus stays on Miz and Mizdow.
I really hope that this is the end of the Mizdow’s association with Miz, it’s been very entertaining, but everything has a shelf life. I want to see this end before that shelf life comes to an end. If that means Mizdow feuds with Miz, then so be it, but I have no reason to believe that Mizdow has any big storylines coming.
Mike’s Prediction: Sheamus
That’s four of us picking Sheamus, one for Miz, and one for Mizdow. Let us know who you think will win, tell us in the comments section below.
