WWE TLC Predictions: The Miz and Damien Mizdow vs. The Usos for the WWE Tag Team Championship

facebooktwitterreddit

On Sunday night, The Usos will challenge The Miz and Damien Mizdow for the WWE Tag Team Championship.

This all started when The Usos won a Tag Team Turmoil Match to become the #1 Contenders. Immediately after the match, The Miz walked up to Naomi, Jimmy Uso’s wife. He said he liked her music video and wanted to help her find representation in Hollywood. Not long after, Miz was on commentary for a Mizdow match, and Jimmy came out to attack him.

Since then, Miz has continued to use Naomi to get in Jimmy’s head, and it has started to cause some problems between Naomi and Jimmy, even some problems between Jimmy and his brother Jey.

Did Miz’s strategy work? Rob Wolkenbrod, Callum Wiggins, Brian Rzeppa, Carl Gac, and Mike Smith have some predictions:

Rob’s Take: The act of Miz and Mizdow has been extremely entertaining since they formed early in the year. Due to their success with the crowds, they were rewarded with the WWE Tag Team Championship.

The Usos have been in the title picture all year because the tag team division is very weak, so why not put your best team in there until someone else proves to be a worthy, entertaining challenger?

Miz and Mizdow are just getting started with the titles. While there probably will be some tension between them as usual, I expect them to retain with Mizdow and getting the spotlight.

Rob’s Prediction: Miz and Mizdow

Callum’s Take: I have to applaud WWE for adding a little more fire into this match beyond the titles themselves, even if it’s through the much-traveled love triangle scenario. The idea that Miz has been looking to help the ‘career’ of Naomi has proven a source of friction between the teams. This should add more aggression into the performance of Jimmy in particular, making for a more meaningful match.

As it is still early in the reign of Miz and Mizdow, their run as champions still has a lot of legs to it. I could imagine a scenario where either Jimmy gets angry, and this results in his team being disqualified, or he walks out on his partner due to frustration in some angle with Naomi. Whether these occur or not, it is very likely that the current champions maintain their grasp on the gold.

Callum’s Prediction: Miz and Mizdow

Brian’s Take: I would have never thought it at the beginning, but the pairing of The Miz and Damien Sandow (now, of course, Mizdow) has actually been one that has caught on with the crowd. Mizdow is making the most of a bad situation and it’s brought his career back from the dead.

The Usos, after being one of the hottest tag teams on the roster, have seen their momentum die off in the past few months. Sure, their matches are always entertaining, but they don’t really have any personality at all. I expect team of Miz/Mizdow to retain due to the fact that they’re much more fun to watch both in and out of the ring right now.

Brian’s Prediction: Miz and Mizdow

Carl’s Take: Mizdow is one of the best things on WWE TV every week, the gimmick is so simple it’s hard to see why it’s never really been done before.

Mizdow and Miz will eventually have to split but that’s gonna be a long way down the line. I can’t see The Usos getting their hands back on the gold in this one, so I expect to see the former Sandow keep proving that “Funny does equal money”.

Carl’s Prediction: Miz and Mizdow

Mike’s Take: Miz and Mizdow are really entertaining, and I suspect that they’re going to have a little more time with the tag titles.

This should be a good match, but in the end, Jimmy’s emotions are going to get the best of him, probably causing a DQ – with Mizdow selling the whole attack on the floor.

Mike’s Prediction: Miz and Mizdow
