WWE Royal Rumble Predictions: Brock Lesnar (C) vs. John Cena vs. Seth Rollins in a Triple Threat Match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship

facebooktwitterreddit

This Sunday, at WWE Royal Rumble, Brock Lesnar will defend the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in a Triple Threat Match against John Cena and Seth Rollins.

Between SummerSlam and Night of Champions, Lesnar and Cena have had an interesting saga. It began with Lesnar completely dominating Cena at The Biggest Party of the Summer. Then, a month later, Cena fought much more valiantly, but came away empty-handed, as Rollins attacked and caused a DQ finish.

Now, Lesnar-Cena III has become a Triple Threat Match, as Rollins has been entered into it, thanks to The Authority.

The looming wild card here is Rollins’ Money in the Bank Contract, so even if he loses, he could still walk out as champion.

What will happen? Jack Jorgensen, Rob Wolkenbrod, Jordan Campbell, Brian Rzeppa, Callum Wiggins, Becca Cook, Carl Gac, Tim Sherry, Chris Schubert, and Mike Smith have some predictions:

Jack’s Take: Sticking Seth into this match as a wild card was an awesome moving, especially given the fact that John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar is played out by now. With that being said, it seems like WWE has had a plan for a long time for Brock Lesnar to walk into WrestleMania as WWE Champion, and usually when they have something set in their minds, they stick to it. Rollins’ inclusion should make this entertaining, and he might tease another cash in at the end, but Brock is walking out with that belt and then back home to sit out his couch and make out with Sable for a few weeks on a pile of money.

Jack’s Prediction: Brock Lesnar

Rob’s Take: I’m really looking forward to this one. The build-up has been great and the final Royal Rumble build-up for this match on Raw really put an exclamation point on it.

This is going to be a chaotic Triple Threat match, which is fine. They’re three talented stars who will bring excitement to this frenetic type of match.

We’ve seen two instances so far of Paul Heyman and Brock Lesnar teasing a split. From Heyman’s talk with Seth Rollins on last week’s SmackDown, to Lesnar shoving Heyman out of the way to speak for himself to open up Raw, something is going to happen. Lesnar is going to win and retain his title. However, since Heyman has said that Rollins is the “future,” he will side with him.

While Lesnar is celebrating his victory, Rollins will blind-side the Beast and Heyman will find a way to assist in this. Rollins will then cash-in on Lesnar, Curb Stomp him, and become the WWE World Heavyweight Champion.

Rob’s Prediction: Lesnar wins. Rollins successfully cashes in.

Jordan’s Take: This is going to be an excellent match. We all know that the talk for the past year was to build Brock Lesnar as the top heel while holding the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and then have Lesnar put over Roman Reigns at WrestleMania. That scenario is still alive, but I can’t shake this feeling I had after watching Monday Night Raw last week.

It would seem that WWE is teasing the idea of Lesnar turning face. Such a turn would likely result from Paul Heyman aligning himself with Seth Rollins.

Heyman is the important piece to this. The guess here is that Lesnar will win the Triple Threat Match but lose the title after Rollins cashes in the Money in the Bank briefcase. Heyman will assist in Rollins’ cash-in.

Jordan’s Prediction: Lesnar wins. Rollins successfully cashes in.

Brian’s Take: The build up for this match, especially the ending to the last RAW before the Rumble, has me incredibly excited for this matchup. Lesnar has been portrayed as an unstoppable monster who happens to be very upset with Rollins, but Rollins is just sneaky enough to potentially be able to pull off this upset.

The third option of Cena is still a viable one, however, if WWE decides that they don’t want Lesnar carrying the belt into WrestleMania. Ultimately, I think we’ll see Lesnar pinning Cena to retain his belt, even with Rollins having J & J Security on his side. As a side prediction, I feel that it’s safe to say that we’ll see an F-5 to one or both of Jamie Noble and Joey Mercury.

Brian’s Prediction: Brock Lesnar

Callum’s Take: This should be a compelling match to say the least, even the result should be fairly straightforward. Brock Lesnar has been built as an all-conquering WWE World Heavyweight Champion, but with two competitors to confront at the same time, it adds another dimension to the fight. John Cena and Seth Rollins are two impressive competitors and mainstays of the main event, and the rivalry has done a great job so far of creating animosity between all three competitors. Lesnar wants to beat up both of them badly. And with the intangibles of J&J Security, Paul Heyman, The Authority and possibly even Sting to consider, the possibilities are endless.

Lesnar is going to win this one – it just makes sense. It is not Seth Rollins’ time yet to wear the most coveted prize in the industry. He is in possession of a briefcase that will give him his chance in the near future. It’s not being cashed in tonight, although it may end up becoming familiar with the faces of Lesnar and Cena. Both members of J&J Security will likely suffer an F-5 and Attitude Adjustment at some stage of the bout, and Paul Heyman will work to get his client to victory.

In the end, I expect all three superstars will perform superbly and meld really well together, even if this is Lesnar’s first multi-man match in WWE for over a decade. All three are more than capable, and the added jeopardy of a third man interfering on every pin attempt adds a new layer of excitement. Nevertheless, I see Lesnar retaining after pinning Cena following a second F-5. Rollins might attempt a cash-in for his briefcase, but if that is the case he is chased away by a returning Randy Orton before he can hand it over, building for their feud at WrestleMania 31.

Callum’s Prediction: Brock Lesnar

Becca’s Take: The addition of Seth Rollins to this match will make it much more entertaining. However, I don’t think that WWE will give him the title just yet, and will save his cash-in for after WrestleMania. I have to go with Brock to retain at the Rumble, simply because it will be easier for Cena to build up a feud for ‘Mania without the title (perhaps with Rollins) whereas there are very limited options for Lesnar outside of whoever wins the Royal Rumble Match. I also think that the Rumble will mark the end of Lesnar and Paul Heyman’s partnership, with Lesnar leaving Heyman after his victory.

Becca’s Prediction: Brock Lesnar

Carl’s Take: With the addition of Rollins to the match a few weeks ago this match took a whole new turn. Cena vs Lesnar has been done to death but the addition of the Autority’s main man it becomes something that interests me again.

The whole match revolves around what will happen to Brock and his contract post Mania. I think the WWE already knows what he will do, and i think he’ll re-sign.

Back to the match itself:

I’ve seen various theories in the last couple of weeks but Brock needs to lose the belt in my opinion, it’s just how do they do that.

I think this is what should happen.

Both Cena and Rollins team up to put Lesnar out of the match. Rollins and The Authority do everything to beat Cena for the title, but not before Sting has made an appearance and been taken out by Triple H. Rollins begins his reign as champion but holds the trump card of still holding the MITB case, knowing that if he loses the belt he still has the title shot in his back pocket.

Lesnar losing the title, but not actually being involved in the finish that keeps him strong.

With Lesnar no longer having the belt, Paul Heyman begins to turn away from Brock, and align himself with Rollins, who leaves The Authority, stating he only used them to help him win the belt, and now he’s “A Paul Heyman Guy”
When seeing Brock take the microphone from Paul on Raw last monday, that made me think they’re teasing a split between the two of them.

An enraged Brock then appears during the Rumble match and takes out a lot of the participants without actually being involved in the match officially, then Taker enters at the last minute and destroys Lesnar to avenge the streak loss, which sets up a rematch at Mania.

A long shot for this to happen but it sets up three Wresltemaia matches that look a long way off:
Undertaker vs Brock Lesnar
Sting vs Triple H
Rollins vs Rumble winner

Carl’s Prediction: Seth Rollins

Tim’s Take: Much like the Rumble match, the winner of the WWE title match was decided a long time ago. And as much as every die hard wrestling fan is salivating for a Rollins cash in, it’s not going to happen. Lesnar will win through some sort of deceit and go on to headline WrestleMania where he’ll put Reigns over as the new super hero in the WWE, replacing Cena in that role.

Tim’s Prediction: Brock Lesnar

Chris’ Take: Another match that could go to anybody. The WWE has setup two huge matches with so much unpredictability, it’s great for wrestling. Lensar’s future with WWE really stands out in this match, as if he isn’t returning after Mania, they could pull the trigger on him dropping the belt. John Cena is the poster boy and is their safe option when plans are so murky. Rollins has put himself in a position as the #2 heel right now and has the Money in the Bank briefcase. He could cash in afterwards or just win it the first time. I predict, somehow, someway Brock Lesnar walks out of Philadelphia with the title.

Chris’ Prediction: Brock Lesnar

Mike’s Take: It’s hard to believe Brock Lesnar might actually not make it to WrestleMania as champion, but I think it will happen.

Lesnar will incapacitate Cena, Rollins will find a way to outsmart Lesnar, with help from Paul Heyman, and he will walk out with the title and the briefcase.

Mike’s Prediction: Seth Rollins
