WWE Fastlane Predictions: Goldust vs. Stardust
By Mike Smith
At WWE Fastlane, after weeks of dissension, Goldust is going to step in the ring to face his brother Stardust.
The tension has been growing between these two for a while now, with Stardust seeming less and less interested in teaming with Goldust, over time. When Goldust tried to get Stardust’s attention, he made a crucial mistake by calling him “Cody,” which angered Stardust to no end and made him snap.
Stardust continued to team with his brother up until last Monday, when their father Dusty Rhodes came to speak to them on Raw, they seemed to be back on the same page, especially when Dusty called Stardust “Cody,” and he drew no reaction from Stardust.
Then they went out for their match. Stardust didn’t walk out on his brother this time, instead, he watched Goldust get pinned, then post-match, Stardust hit Goldust with Cody Rhodes’ finisher, Cross Rhodes.
Backstage, Stardust was walking around, seeming to be halfway between Cody and Stardust, when Dusty walked up to talk to him, but Stardust freaked out. He said that Cody is dead from the weight that was on his shoulders of being the son of a polka-dotted dancer, and the little brother of freak.
What will happen when these two brothers collide? Rob Wolkenbrod, Jordan Campbell, Callum Wiggins, and Mike Smith have some predictions:

Rob’s Take: I’m looking forward to see how the Dust Bros. work together and tell this story of Stardust breaking away from his brother Goldust.
The ending here will be Stardust getting put over since Goldust’s career is winding down, but the match itself should be a fun one for the undercard.
Rob’s Prediction: Stardust
Jordan’s Take: At last, we are getting the feud between the Rhodes brothers. Stardust (Cody Rhodes) officially turned on Goldust on the February 16 edition of Monday Night Raw. The outcome of this match is dependent on whether or not there will be a sequel. If there will be a sequel to this match at WrestleMania, then it would be logical that Goldust wins on Sunday night and Stardust wins at WrestleMania. I will operate under that assumption and say Goldust wins this match. But two things will happen during this feud: 1) Goldust will put over Stardust in the end; 2) Stardust will transform back into Cody Rhodes.
Jordan’s Prediction: Goldust
Callum’s Take: In another match that is being put together before it is likely done again at WrestleMania, the tension between the golden duo had been brewing for over a month in their losing streak. Both the Rhodes brothers have given excellent promos related to their brotherly rivalry, but only started exchanging blows last week. This has made this battle appear rushed and less personal.
But, due to the fact that Goldust will seemingly be heading towards retirement soon, and a WrestleMania match is without doubt in the offing, the eldest of the Rhodes clan should win this match. This will give Stardust/Cody the opportunity to pick up the more important victory on The Grandest Stage of Them All, retiring his brother in the process.
Callum’s Prediction: Goldust
Mike’s Take: I don’t even think we see this match.
There’s no reason for this match to happen at Fastlane, and for it to not be just a one-off at WrestleMania. It feels like they panicked and just added this match.
That said, I think we see a backstage segment where somebody like R-Truth finds Goldust laid out on the ground, and nobody knows what happened. On Monday’s Raw, Cody Rhodes, not Stardust, comes out and tells the world about how he attacked his brother backstage because he didn’t want to embarrass him in the ring, in front of everybody. This should start to bring some fire out of Goldust, igniting a brawl that ends evenly with both men having to be separated.
Mike’s Prediction: No match
We have two predictions in favor of Goldust, one in favor of Stardust, and one saying the match doesn’t happen at Fastlane. What do you think will happen between these two brothers? Let us know in the comments section below.
