Why Adam Rose’s Brief WWE Career is Likely Over

More from WWE

In place of the WWE Morning Paper today, we’re going to take a look at the possible end of a WWE Superstar.

Going into last night, Adam Rose had never lost a match on WWE TV. He also had the second highest winning percentage in company history at 92% (losses in NXT are factored). It’s kind of hard to believe when months ago, it was said that WWE soured on him quickly, right?

The Adam Rose character was developed earlier this year following losing a rivalry to Sami Zayn, when he was known as Leo Kruger, a South African hunter who had mid-card potential. Rose is supposed to be an avid party-goer who has an entourage known as the “Exotic Express.” It’s an extremely goofy character that could never get out of the low-card.

Through his brief career in WWE, Rose has had two real feuds. The first one was arguably the only legitimate one when he went head-to-head with Jack Swagger. He would go onto defeat him on an episode of Raw and SmackDown and never look weak against the Patriot. That would be the same against Slater Gator (Heath Slater and Titus O’Neil), whom he never lost a match to. We also saw an increased focus on the Bunny, one of the members of the Exotic Express.

Then there was what happened last night on the SmackDown 15th Anniversary show. During the opening segment, Rose would come out with his entourage and talk about how it’s party time all the time since this was a big show. Stephanie McMahon, who was in the ring at the time, was having no part of his happiness, so she decided to put him in a match with Kane.

As seen in the video above, the Director of Operations tore apart Rose and the Rosebuds. What was interesting out of all of this was seeing the Bunny get away unscathed. Could it be staying on TV over Rose?

While that question could be answered on Monday Night Raw, this was very likely either the beginning of phasing out the Adam Rose character or the end of it in WWE. Cageside Seats says it’s been in the works for awhile.

"Adam Rose’s defeat on SmackDown last night was a long time coming and apparently in the works for a while. He could be getting phased out soon."

What Kane did to Rose and his group was a burial. From the numerous choke-slams and punches, it made them all look weak and foolish. Even going back to what McMahon did earlier in the show, it was the beginning of the end for him.

One of the more recent burials that we saw was back in June, when Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns took out 3MB. The trio was utterly destroyed and two-thirds of it (Drew McIntyre and Jinder Mahal) were never seen on WWE TV again. This was due to budget cuts, but it was made sure that they had the door slammed on them on the way out. This could be the same fate that Rose suffers.

However, many people on Twitter last night pointed out that he had a full goatee instead of the usual patch below his lip. Could this lead to another repackaging of Ray Leppan (Rose’s real name)? It’s a small detail that maybe could lead to more. It could also just be him wanting to change his look.

Either way, the Adam Rose character in WWE is pretty much done for. If it stays around, he’ll be a jobber with Fandango, Zack Ryder, and others. If not, it will be a very forgettable four-plus months in WWE for him.
