WWE: Ranking the Top 5 Best Character Turns of 2014

1) Seth Rollins
By far, Seth Rollins’ character turn after the Payback PPV on June 2 was the top one of the year.
Earlier in the night, Batista quit WWE because he
never got his one-on-one WWE World Heavyweight Championship title shot that he felt he deserved from winning the 2014 Royal Rumble. So Triple H decided to role with his “Plan B” – recruiting a new member for The Authority. That new member just happened to be Rollins.

The chair shots that he delivered to Ambrose and Reigns looked brutal and personal. The pain, agony, and shock on both of their faces sold the moment extremely well.
When Rollins handed over the chair to Randy Orton, Michael Cole said it best “Did Rollins just make a deal with the devil?”
No one expected this to happen after The Shield had just swept Evolution the night before in the elimination tag team match. There had been cracks among the trio a few months earlier, but any problems had disappeared for a few months.
This heel run for Rollins has been tremendous, as he’s arguably established himself as the top heel in the company. His promo work, body language, heel wrestling moves, etc. have all greatly improved over the past five months. He gets booed like a normal heel would in every arena (Except in the state of Iowa) and still receives the “You Sold Out!” chants. Overall, the Golden Boy of The Shield has really done nothing wrong.
Rollins’ feud with Ambrose was also something special – arguably the feud of the year. It was personal, brutal, and very exciting to watch. It established both men as top Superstars in WWE and set them up for a terrific, long-term run with the company.
