WWE TLC Predictions: Ryback vs. Kane (Chairs Match)
By Mike Smith
On Sunday night, Ryback will look to prove himself, not as a WWE Superstar, but as a monster, when he takes on Kane in a Chairs Match at WWE TLC.
When it looked like Ryback was going to join Team Authority for WWE Survivor Series, Kane was the biggest reason that Ryback changed course and joined Team Cena.
Since Team Cena’s win, Ryback has gloated over Kane, and the two have continued to clash on a few occasions, with chairs being the main weapon of choice.
Let’s get to some predictions from Rob Wolkenbrod, Callum Wiggins, Brian Rzeppa, Carl Gac, and Mike Smith:
More from Daily DDT
- It’s time for Adam Cole and MJF to drop the ROH tag team titles
- Tom Lawlor talks MLW return, AEW opportunity, CM Punk’s WWE return and more
- Eddie Kingston stands to gain the most from the AEW Continental Classic
- Trish Stratus on WWE NXT would help elevate that women’s division
- Randy Orton signs with SmackDown to go after The Bloodline
Rob’s Take: You really can’t expect too much wrestling between these two either. It’s going to be a brawl of chairs flying everywhere with someone laying on the ground in pain at the end of the match, which will likely be Kane. Ryback goes over in this one and takes the win.
Rob’s Predictions: Ryback
Callum’s Take: Whilst this match will unlikely be the surprise package of the night, Ryback has been getting over once again since returning in late October. The crowds chants of “Feed Me More” are louder than ever before, as he has combined elements of his first face run and his heel persona to develop a more compelling persona. Still, whether it can survive in the long run is still up for debate.
As for Kane, he continues to defy his age by putting on solid matches, even if his speed has been reduced. However, at this stage of his career he is a well-known character that has accomplished all he needs to in WWE, so his job at the moment is to be a veteran helping the latest stars get over. Kane will perform that job in his match with Ryback, a Shell Shocked through a stack of chairs likely to seal The Big Guy’s victory.
Callum’s Prediction: Ryback
Brian’s Take: There’s not much to say about this one. Ryback is slowly regaining the status he held when he first debuted and unfortunately Kane hasn’t been relevant in months. If there was one pick on this card that I was most confident about, it’s this one.
Brian’s Prediction: Ryback
Carl’s Take: I’m not expecting too much from this match if I’m honest. Whilst Ryback is being pushed as hard as anyone in the company I don’t think Kane has the required amount of star aura any more, he’s basically the giant lackey for Rollins. The Chairs stipulation could bring something more to the match but I’m not getting my hopes up. I’ll go for the Ryback win in a boring match.
Carl’s Prediction: Ryback
Mike’s Take: This is the kind of match we saw on that string of eight pay-per-views two years ago. It reminds me a lot of WrestleMania 29 and the match against Mark Henry. We all thought Ryback was going to win, and then he didn’t.
If Ryback has any chance of being something, he needs to get the win here.
Mike’s Prediction: Ryback
