WWE Raw Review: John Cena Appreciation Night

“You’re All Fired” – The Most Overused Storyline in WWE
Throughout Monday Night Raw, The Authority punished members of Team Cena for simply being on the team at Survivor Series. Erick Rowan was attacked, Dolph Ziggler was unfairly placed into a 2 out of 3 falls match for the Intercontinental Championship, and Ryback faced Seth Rollins and Kane in a handicap match. John Cena was praised by The Authority, but with bad intentions. They declared the evening “John Cena Appreciation Night” because he brought Triple H and Stephanie McMahon back.

In the final segment of Raw, HHH and Stephanie brought out Cena and his team. At first, his team was going to be suspended for a certain amount of time. Instead, after running away from the ring to discuss a bigger punishment, the power couple fired Ryback, Rowan, and Ziggler. Loud circus music played and confetti came down from the rafters as Cena stood there in sadness.
Triple H and Stephanie played their roles fantastically. They really are great on TV. However, the “You’re Fired” storyline has been used countless times by WWE. We most recently saw it in 2013, when the Rhodes brothers had to fight for their jobs. As you’d expect, they kept their jobs.
In the end, we all know that Rowan, Ryback, and Ziggler will keep their jobs. They likely will even be on Raw next week; maybe even SmackDown this Friday.
Earlier in the night, the thought was that Ziggler dropping the Intercontinental Championship to Bad News Barrett meant that he was moving to “bigger and better things.” I guess in terms of who he’s working with, yes. In terms of storyline, no.
