Why Brock Lesnar Re-Signing With WWE is “Best For Business”
Rumors are beginning to swirl at warp-speed about Brock Lesnar’s future status with the WWE. Will The Beast Incarnate stay or will the former UFC Heavyweight Champion bolt back to the octagon?
Around this time last year, Brock Lesnar was preparing to try and stop the greatest streak in the history of sports-entertainment. At this point last year, The Undertaker was 21-0 at WrestleMania. “The Streak” came to a screeching halt when Lesnar defeated and utterly manhandled Undertaker at WrestleMania XXX.
The shocking victory was only the beginning of Lesnar’s reign of terror over the WWE. Since breaking “The Streak” in New Orleans last year, Lesnar has annihilated John Cena to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, destroyed Chris Jericho and defeated Cena and Seth Rollins in a Triple Threat Match at January’s Royal Rumble pay-per-view to set up his main event showdown with Royal Rumble winner Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 31.

Lesnar has “conquered” the business (per the words of his agent, the great Paul Heyman), and with all of Lesnar’s accomplishments before his return in 2012 after WrestleMania XXVIII, there’s really not much else for Lesnar and the WWE.
But, with Roman Reigns not fully looking like the next face of the company due to his lack of mic skills and character, John Cena and the mystique of every fan over the age of 14 booing him out of every building and Daniel Bryan‘s non-stop track to each and every midcard, Lesnar is needed now more than ever.
Reports have leaked that Lesnar is awfully close to re-signing with the WWE and with an already limited schedule, keeping the title on him would definitely be “best for business” due to Brock’s frightening presence and shear strength he possesses.
Plus, if Lesnar leaves, the utter brilliance from Heyman we’ve seen and heard in recent weeks will just disappear with little meaning without Heyman’s star client on the company’s payroll. Heyman’s a future WWE Hall of Famer and arguably one of the greatest managers of all-time.
He’s cut some tremendous promos in his historic past, but this one from the Mar. 9 episode of Monday Night Raw was absolutely fantastic:
Just for the record, Heyman’s promo has not only a gratuitous amount of truth to it, Heyman’s references to the UFC and the upcoming Mayweather-Pacquiao superfight helps bring some media headlines to the WWE; something a few people like Lesnar and Heyman can do for the business.
Think about this: Reddit user MetsFan4Ever claimed that Triple H has been wanting the United States and Intercontinental Championships to mean something in the business again, hence John Cena taking on Rusev at WrestleMania and Daniel Bryan in the IC title ladder match at ‘Mania.

Let’s say Cena ends Rusev’s undefeated streak of over a year and wins the U.S. title and Daniel Bryan wins the Intercontinental Championship. You’d have two of the biggest stars with championships, while Lesnar would continue to hold the WWE title.
Bryan can do some fantastic work with guys in the IC title picture like Dolph Ziggler and the last time fans liked Cena, was probably around his last U.S. title reign a decade ago.
Putting titles on Bryan and Cena sounds like some fantasy general manager booking from the old SmackDown! vs. RAW video games. And to be honest, it’s not a bad idea at all.
Even if Lesnar changes his mind and bolts for the UFC, or for Hollywood, or for whatever he wanted to pursue, you still have “plan B” with the main-event ready Seth Rollins in your back pocket. Rollins has proven time and time again since the split from The Shield that he can handle the spotlight and be “the man”. Fans would buy into Rollins as champion after Lesnar a whole hell of lot more than Roman Reigns. That’s not an opinion, that’s just a fact.
Personally, not only is Lesnar “best for business” as the dominant and unstoppable top dog, he works quite a generous schedule and seemingly appears when and where he pleases. If you’re Lesnar, why give up some healthy paychecks and a favorable schedule for a 37-year-old?
To look at the other side of the coin, if you have an unstoppable beast who helps produce network buys and headlines for your multi-million dollar company, why not pay the man?
It’s obvious that people aren’t buying in to what you’re selling them now. One of your minority owners preaches about what’s “best for business”.
What is “best for business”? It’s simple: Brock Lesnar as WWE World Heavyweight Champion after WrestleMania 31.
