WWE WrestleMania 31: What’s Next for Brock Lesnar?

In the madness that was WrestleMania 31’s main event last night in Santa Clara, Brock Lesnar lost his WWE World Heavyweight Championship, but wasn’t pinned in the decision. So, what’s next for The Beast Incarnate and his advocate?

Yeah, bet you didn’t see that one coming.

In one of the most shocking moments in WrestleMania history, “Mr. Money in the Bank” Seth Rollins cashed in during — yes, during — the main event between Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

Rollins took advantage of a spear from Reigns onto Lesnar, hit a Curb Stomp on Reigns and won his first world title in WWE.

The world was simply stunned.

Seth Rollins cashed in his Money in the Bank contract during a title match, which had never been done before. Most expected Roman Reigns and his fast-track push to the top of the WWE to reach the peak.

With the main story being Seth — not Roman — as the new champ, a curious secondary story line is:

What’s next for Brock Lesnar?

During WrestleMania week, Lesnar announced on ESPN’s SportsCenter to host Michelle Beadle and the world that his career in MMA was over and that he re-signed with WWE.

The announcement not only brought publicity to WWE and WrestleMania 31, but it threw an interesting wrench into the outcome of the Reigns/Lesnar title match.

The bold — yet brilliant — move to put the title on Rollins now leaves fans wondering what’s next for The Beast Incarnate. In the last year leading into last night, Lesnar ended The Undertaker‘s unbeaten WrestleMania streak, destroyed John Cena to win the WWE title and eviscerated anyone in his path.

But now, with no title around his waist and no plans in the works that we know of, what’s next for Brock?

  • A Lesnar/Rollins feud over the gold?

This would be extremely entertaining, but a face turn for Brock isn’t likely. The dangerous Brock Lesnar with Paul Heyman is much more effective when he’s destroying guys with no remorse. Plus, even though Brock is as capable as anyone in terms of sticking it to The Authority, this path doesn’t seem likely.

  • A Lesnar/Reigns feud past WrestleMania?

Once again, this would be as entertaining as anything on the card every night, but the plans are still to bring Roman to the top and a feud with Rollins could start as soon as tonight on Monday Night Raw. The two put on a hard-hitting, bone-crushing show last night, but a lengthy feud? This isn’t likely either.

  • Brock taking some time off and returning for a big program with a big name around SummerSlam?

This may seem like an easy stance to take, but it may be the one for Lesnar. Remember, Brock isn’t a guy you’re going to see on a weekly basis. Hell, even when he was WWE Champion, he was on a part-time slate. That’s probably not going to change with a huge new contract and most likely bigger paychecks.

The devil’s advocate approach to this would be, say, a Triple Threat “rematch” at Extreme Rules between Lesnar, Rollins and Reigns?

You could still make Lesnar look monstrous like last night and keep/put the title on Rollins/Reigns, but we’ve basically seen that result.

It’s going to be interesting to see where the brass goes with Lesnar.

He should and probably will make some post-WrestleMania appearances, but working in a huge program after WrestleMania doesn’t seem too likely, but as we saw last night, anything and everything is in play.
