Hulk Hogan Parts Company With WWE

In the wake of a racial scandal, all references to Hulk Hogan have been removed from WWE.com and he has seemingly left the company.

In a shocking turn of events, Hulk Hogan appears to be finished with WWE once again, only a year-and-a-half after returning to the company. All references to the WWE Hall of Famer, including his alumni profile and WWE Shop merchandise have been removed from WWE.com. Furthermore, Curtis Axel, who has been portraying a parody gimmick of Hogan with “Axelmania” has reverted back to his original look on his superstar profile. Also, he has been removed from the WWE Tough Enough judging panel, and any involvement by him on the show has been taken off that section of the website.

This decision to remove Hulk Hogan from anything WWE-related stems from rumors of an audio tape existing with Hogan going on what as described as a “racial tirade”. Whilst it is currently unknown for sure what this tape is, an interview conducted a few years ago on the Shade 45 radio channel has been brought up in relation to this news. In that clip, Hogan uses a number of racial slurs and terms fairly liberally in relation to an infamous promo cut by Booker T in WCW. Whilst he at no point demonstrates a hatred towards any particular race, WWE might have taken offense to some of the language he employed.

This is a huge blow to WWE, as they had pushed Hulk Hogan in a big way since his return to the company after a six-year absence and his time in TNA. He was the host of WrestleMania 30, appeared at this year’s event as part of the nWo, and participated in numerous promo segments on RAW. At this time it is unsure whether Hogan left WWE or was fired, the rapid nature of his removal from all things WWE suggests the latter. It is also another major embarrassment for Tough Enough, fresh off the ridiculous elimination of Patrick Clark. Now it is required to move forward as if Hogan was never a part of it, as well as finding a replacement third judge with similar drawing power.

UPDATE:

According to multiple sources (h/t Wrestling Inc), apparently the true audio file behind Hulk Hogan’s severance from WWE will be released on Friday morning. It was recorded a few years ago, before Hogan rejoined the company in 2014, and one source aware of the content of the clip has stated that this will undoubtedly cause serious damage to his reputation in the short-term, but nothing irreparable over time. This story is still developing, and DailyDDT will keep you updated as to what happens throughout the day.
