New Day vs PrimeTime Players & Mark Henry
Result: Henry def. Kofi by pinfall (World’s Strongest Slam)
Rating: 2.5 stars out of 5 stars
They show a backstage vignette where Mark Henry says New Day is in line for the Hall of Pain. Big E is heard telling Mark Henry to retire already.
Woods starts out the match against Darren Young. Young ends up hitting a backdrop to Kofi onto the ring apron as we go to break. Kofi is getting worked over by Titus O’Neil as we come back, but Mark Henry gets the tag in and uses power moves to ground Kofi. Young gets grounded by New Day with constant tags and kicks. Hot tags go to Kofi and Titus, and O’Neil takes out everyone on New Day. Match breaks down, and Henry gets tagged in. Kofi gets hit with a World’s Strongest Slam for the pinfall.
Evan’s Notes: These teams have had better matches before, as this was pretty formulaic. The antics of the New Day still made it rather entertaining.
They air a clip from Swerved, which is odd since I’m pretty sure they’re ending Swerved on the network soon. If you get the network and you haven’t seen Swerved, check it out. It’s actually really good.
The New Day is shown backstage and are asked if they’ll be at the back of the line for being the number one contenders. They say it wasn’t a tag champ who pinned them though, it was Henry. They say that Rich Brennan is disgustingly negative, and debut a new New Day chant. They also steal Rich Brennan’s microphone. Great segment to show New Day’s delusion about being champions.
