WWE Night of Champions will truly be the night where Seth Rollins sinks or swims as he is set for double-duty as he defends the United States Championship and the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

Over the course of the past 18 months, Seth Rollins has evolved into not only one of WWE’s top superstars but also the company’s top in-ring performer.

That sentiment will be put to a test on Sunday at WWE Night of Champions. At WWE Night of Champions, Rollins will be working two different matches. The first match, Rollins will defend the WWE United States championship against John Cena. The second match will see Rollins defend the WWE World Heavyweight championship against Sting.

With Rollins defending both titles on Sunday night, speculation has run rampant over whether Rollins will drop either of them. Along with that has come the question of should Rollins drop both titles on Sunday?

The answer to that question is an emphatic no.

Rollins needs to drop a title on Sunday but there is no logical reason for him to drop both titles.

The title that Rollins needs to drop is the United States championship.

During John Cena’s reign as United State champion, the title had regained it’s sense of prestige. Between the weekly open challenges and the impressive booking of Cena, the United States championship was a relevant title once again. With Rollins as the United States champion, the title has lost relevancy. Since defeating Cena at SummerSlam for the United States championship, Rollins has placed little emphasis on the title. Defeating the whole purpose of Cena’s reign with the title. Therefore, Rollins needs to drop the United States championship on Sunday.

If Rollins is going to drop the United States championship on Sunday, then he needs to retain the WWE World Heavyweight championship. Having a part-time WWE World Heavyweight champion doesn’t work. If Sting were to win the title on Sunday, a part-time champion is exactly what he would be. Rollins is the best character that WWE has on their roster and that fact is highlighted even more with the WWE World Heavyweight championship around his waist.

Even with going .500 on Sunday night, Rollins will be the one to steal the show. That would be why there is no reason for him to drop both titles at WWE Night of Champions.
