Final Thoughts
This was a standout show that works as a fantastic set up for the TakeOver special next week. The only minor issues with it were the Royce botch (ouch) and the lack of Asuka on television. While they did show an extended vignette for her, it would’ve been nice to see her on air one more time.
The inevitable Balor-Joe feud is going to feature some tremendous match ups for the title. While I don’t think that Joe will take the title off of Balor, he will push the champ in some TakeOver events.
The Balor/Joe team making it to the semi finals does take a spot away from the surprisingly deep tag team field of NXT. The other three spots are filled with teams who belong there. Gable & Jordan have especially been tremendous, and I hope to see them in the finals next week.
Overall, a great show that builds up NXT TakeOver: Respect on Wednesday. Will you be tuning in? Let us know in the comments below.
