The New Day’s Big E Should Defeat John Cena for WWE U.S. Title at Hell in a Cell
With John Cena set to be leaving WWE TV for a while, we argue why New Day’s Big E should become the next WWE United States Champion.

Yesterday, we noted that WWE United States Champion John Cena is set to miss the post-WWE Hell in a Cell episode of Raw and all of November. This is due to “personal reasons.”
With Cena set to miss an entire month (and possibly more) of WWE TV, he will likely drop the U.S. title so it can appear on TV. While WWE keeping the title on their top draw wouldn’t be a surprise, doing this may not be the brightest idea.

So the question becomes who could take the U.S. title away from Cena?
On the recent episode of Raw, we saw Cena make his first title defense since ending his feud with Seth Rollins. He faced off against New Day’s trombone-playing star Xavier Woods. Mr. HLR would win via disqualification after Kofi Kingston and Big E ran down to the ring to break up a pin. The trio then defeated Cena and The Dudley Boyz in a six-man tag match.
Afterwards, Woods took to Twitter to state that the feud is not over yet.
Having New Day feud with Cena and The Dudley Boyz is fine. There’s three members of the heel team so two can focus on Bubba Ray and D-Von while the third goes after Cena.
With this in mind, who specifically from New Day should get the title win?
Big E.
Yes, that Big E you see in the video above dancing.
The former NXT Champion has received an ample but quiet amount of protection. He has taken just two televised pinfalls in the past three months (Against Titus O’Neil at the July 7 SmackDown taping and at WWE Battleground on July 19). If you go back and watch the matches that the trio have lost since Battleground, Kingston and Woods have taken all the pins. Not getting put through a table by the Dudleys is also notable, as ridiculous as it may sound.
Big E has also been booked as the “leader” of New Day. He does their intro, arguably gets the most time on the microphone and is also the biggest one of the three. That may be an outdated way of looking at this but WWE still clearly values size.
Being the leader of the trio would also mean he’s the most likely to receive a singles title reign. It also helps that the U.S. title has become a more prestigious title with Cena and Rollins having held the belt. It would make Big E’s win even greater.
At some point in the next few weeks, we should get an announcement on who Cena will face at Hell in a Cell. Big E is the best choice for this if WWE sticks with New Day feuding with the 15-time World Champion.
