Con: The Title Match Will be Mediocre

Like I said earlier, Rollins is capable of carrying a match by himself, but it would be much more entertaining if he actually had someone to enhance his abilities instead of hinder them.

Kane isn’t bad in the ring, and maybe we’ve been spoiled with most of Rollins’ title matches, since he’s had opponents the likes of Dean Ambrose, John Cena, and Brock Lesnar. But we should expect title matches to be the cream of the crop. They should not only be the last match of the night, but they should be deserving of that time slot.

Kane will be better than Sting, we know that much. Sting was a victim of his age, so his poor performance wasn’t his fault, but we can be sure Kane won’t succumb to the same fate since he’s been wrestling on a semi-regular basis his entire career. The problem with Kane is he simply won’t do anything special. He’ll sell Rollins’ moves well, he’ll hit a few uppercuts, body slams, maybe a chokeslam or tombstone, but he’s not going to do anything that makes the match must-see TV.

Lately, Rollins has bust out some new moves. He’s been using a frog splash lately, and he’s got the ever-popular phoenix splash as well. And, if he can pull it off on Kane, the turnbuckle powerbomb would be pretty impressive to see. Overall, Rollins will impress as he usually does, but Kane will be his typical, lumbering self. And that’s okay. It will make for a decent match, but it won’t be memorable by any means.

Overall, the Kane vs. Rollins rivalry is shaping up to be about a 6/10. The storytelling is well above average, but the match quality won’t be. It will do exactly what WWE wants it to do: Keep Seth Rollins busy until they feel he should be a challenged by a legitimate contender.
