One thing that NXT excels at is a pre-match hype video and that was no different here, showing Asuka in her native Japan kicking the living day lights out of people.

Dana Brooke comes out first accompanied by Emma, looking her usual confident self. Asuka comes out in full robes and masked up, she could already be the coolest women on the roster. Asuka looks so confident as she steps into the ring as the commentary team put her over strongly. Emma looks worried in the ring with Dana.

The crowd rain down the “Asuka’s gonna kill you” chant. Dana slaps Asuka.

Some early arm reversals sees Asuka get the better of her opponent with a hammerlock. Dana mocks her and then slaps her, Asuka responds with a massive smile and then the striking begins. A hip attack leaves Dana down as Asuka mocks Dana’s posing. Dana tries to get the better but Asuka takes her down with the arm bar submission. Dana breaks on the ropes as Asuka hits some painful looking kicks.

Emma interferes on the apron and Dana takes advantage to get a two count. A short clothesline takes Asuka down. Asuka escapes a body scissors to put her in an ankle lock. Asuka hits a German suplex then transitions to an arm bar again then a choke/chicken wing before a big kick.. Emma gets in her face but also eats a big kick. Asuka stands tall in the ring. Asuka locks in the cross face chicken wing, body scissors submission to get the tap out and the win via submission. The commentary team tell us that’s called the Asuka Lock, i think we’ll see a lot of women tap out to that move!

Dana seemingly can’t believe she’s lost the match.

Dana complains post match to get a big kick from Asuka and she’s out of the ring as Asuka stands tall.

Carl’s take: WOW, what a debut! Asuka got the expected win but it was good to see Dana  at least get some offence in, if this had been a squash debut win that wouldn’t have had as much of an impact. Asuka really looks like a game changer for the women’s division. Her striking and submission wrestling looks unreal. This woman will be NXT Women’s Champion before you know it and who will beat her?
