Final Thoughts
The quality of SmackDown this week was effected by a lot of different factors. One was the fact that most of the roster has already traveled over to the Middle East for the company’s tour. Also after coming a day after the tremendous NXT: TakeOver special, the blue brand was put in a position to disappoint many wrestling fans.
The biggest thing that plagued this week’s SmackDown though was a lack of good matches. The bouts between Big E and Ziggler, and Rusev and Ryback were entertaining battles that could have been better if given a little more time.
Instead, that time was filled with recaps of RAW. There is nothing more frustrating than expecting to watch some fresh action on a Thursday night and being given the same thing we saw on Monday. Getting rid of the high amount of recaps would benefit SmackDown tremendously.
This was a small slip up for SmackDown, because in the past few weeks the show had been used to advance mid-card and lower card angles and give other Superstars time to shine. We’ll have to see next week if this trend continues, or if SmackDown can go back to its successful ways.
