Raw Needs a Spark

Fans know by now that Monday Night Raw ratings are a mess. Show after show continues to reach an all-time low in viewership. There’s many arguments that can be made towards why this is happening and one of them is the lack of a spark.

Raw has become repetitive over the years. Storylines have become repetitive and there’s no longer an “anything can happen” feel on the show anymore. Title changes rarely happen, there’s not much storyline progression and matchups are hardly ever “fresh.” WWE billed one episode of Raw earlier in the summer as “the night of fresh matchups” and while that’s nice, why does it have to be a one-night-only thing?

As of this writing, it doesn’t seem like any of this will change. WWE needs to get viewers, though, in any way possible and putting Steve Austin on Raw would add that much-needed spark to bring back the “anything can happen” feeling.

Fans may roll their eyes at that phrase but the WWE product thrives with everyone guessing what can happen next. While Austin appearing on the show was already announced for Raw, it’s no guarantee he shows up. It’s safe to assume some must think Austin is guaranteed to not show up, so why not tune in and be surprised to see the Rattlesnake appear?

Austin’s appearance would only be a one night thing but it could help future shows.
