Sheamus has his MITB briefcase, and the commentators are teasing that he may cash it in tonight. Neville and Sheamus starting things off, picking up on their rivalry from the last few weeks. Sheamus starts things off using his power, but Neville’s speed is more than a match, nailing him with a series of kicks. Cesaro tagged in, he kneels down so that Neville can do a sweet corkscrew splash!
Stardust and the Ascension are shown out in the crowd watching the match. Inside, Sheamus has taken control, and his team begins pummeling Neville. Big splash in the corner, followed by a leaping elbow drop on Sheamus. Ziggler goes for the Fame-asser, Sheamus catches him, but Ziggler manages to pull it off anyway! Referee gets distracted and Rusev nails Ziggler with a superkick. Sheamus and Ziggler both down as they go to commercial break.
Back to the action with Barrett in control. Big knee drop by Barrett, followed by an arm stretch submission, into a chinlock. Lots of submission holds for Barrett. Ziggler in the corner, Rusev goes for a big splash but misses and falls all the way to the outside. Ziggler’s crawling, and makes the diving tag to Cesaro! Uppercut Express on Barrett! Cesaro teases the giant swing, but he’s interrupted before he can pull it off. Neville in the ring, springboards off Cesaro and onto Sheamus and Rusev on the outside! Barrett goes for the Bullhammer but gets drilled with a superkick by Ziggler. Giant Swing on Barrett! 1…2..3….at least 20 revolutions on the Giant Swing! Neville to the top turnbuckle….Red Arrow! 1…2…3!! Ziggler, Neville, and Cesaro win.
Travis’ Thoughts: Solid opening match designed to get the crowd pumped. The heels relied mostly on rest holds while Cesaro, Neville, and Ziggler got off all of their signature spots. Not sure why they kept teasing Stardust and the Acension since they didn’t get involved, but maybe it’s just setting something up for Raw tomorrow night.
