Looking into the crystal ball, what will the tag team division look like in 2017?

More from WWE

Tag team wrestling in WWE seems to go through lulls. There are periods of exciting tag team action, with credible teams contending for the tag team belts. The Attitude era had tons of teams that were just that: teams. Edge & Christian, the Dudley Boyz, the Hardy Boyz, APA, Holly Cousins, and more. The Ruthless Aggression era also had some solid teams in the division, like MNM, Los Guerreros, World’s Greatest Tag Team, Paul London & Brian Kendrick, and more.

WWE also has a history of their tag team division going by the wayside. A common occurrence has been to see two singles stars with nothing else to do joining the tag ranks and holding the championships.

Some of these teams have been successful: Jeri-Show (Chris Jericho & Big Show) and Team Hell No (Daniel Bryan & Kane), but these are exceptions. For the most part, these patchwork teams are not what makes up a strong division.

The tag team divisions in both WWE and NXT right now are stacked. There are no less than five teams in NXT that could realistically contend for the tag titles there. In WWE, some teams have been shaken by injuries, but there are still lots of teams and potential teams in the mix.

So now I will look into the crystal ball for the WWE and see where the tag team division could be in 18 months. What teams will still be together? Which NXT teams will be on the main roster? Who will be faces and who will be heels? Find out by looking into the crystal ball.
