Sheamus Should Cash-In on WWE RAW After Seth Rollins’ Injury

With the injury to WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins, Sheamus should cash in Monday night.

WWE is currently scrambling to figure out what to do with their main event scene. Seth Rollins, the man who has carried the WWE World Heavyweight Championship since WrestleMania 31, is going to be out for 6-9 months with a terrible knee injury. They need a new champion to step up to the plate, and there will be a tournament at Survivor Series to crown a new champion.

Their new champion is right in front of them, and he’s holding a big, shiny, gold briefcase, fella.

Sheamus should open Monday Night RAW by addressing the Authority. Have him claim that since he has the Money in the Bank briefcase, he was always the No. 1 Contender. He has the ability to call for a title match whenever he wants against the champ, which to him is still Rollins. He wants the match to happen right then and there, and since Rollins can not compete, Sheamus would win the title by forfeit.

This works on two different levels. The first being that it gives the WWE Universe a heel champion to cheer against. WWE may want to have a tournament at Survivor Series, but Sheamus can say they don’t need one since he is the real champ. It’ll make the WWE Universe hate him even more than they already do, and Roman Reigns will get an even stronger face reaction going up against Sheamus.

More importantly, Sheamus’ impending cash-in and title reign has been something the WWE Universe has been dreading ever since he gained possession of the briefcase. This allows Sheamus’ title run to get out-of-the-way, and lets Roman Reigns win his first title over a strong heel.

WWE may have wanted to save Sheamus’ title reign for closer to when the next Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie comes out, which Sheamus stars in. WWE always wants to get as much main stream attention as possible, but delaying the reign is a transparent move for public relations by WWE.

More from WWE

Have Sheamus be a transitional champion in this time where WWE is scrambling to figure out their heavyweight championship picture. Sheamus can hold the belt, drop it to Reigns (or someone else), and get out of the main event picture. Even with the injuries to Rollins & Orton, and Cena’s absence, Sheamus doesn’t need to linger around the main event scene long. Let Sheamus be the transitional champion for the next top dog, and get the Money in the Bank briefcase out of his hands.
