Final Thoughts

Well, that last match used a ton of interference and booking in order to mask the fact that Bayley was right: Eva Marie is not a wrestler. The decision to make her “backed by corporate” is a really smart move. It is something based in true life where WWE brass want Eva Marie to be a success story, hence her push. It almost justifies her terrible in-ring ability since it’s what “corporate wants.”

Pairing her with Nia Jax is also a great idea, as it gives off a Shawn Michaels – Diesel vibe to their relationship. Nia Jax gives legitimacy to the duo because of her pure strength and power. It’s still not enough to justify putting the title on Eva yet, but in due time her run as a heel champ (and I can’t believe I’m saying this) could not be half terrible.

Oh wait, yes it will because then she’ll have to do promos and she could not act her way out of anything. Eva should never, ever have the title. Really.

The rest of the show was really great. The return of Enzo and Cass to challenge Dash and Dawson is going to lead to a good TakeOver: London match. The rest of the card is looking great as well.

Crews vs Corbin is going to be a good clash and I think will stand as Crews’ coming out party in NXT. As good as the NXT Championship match was against Balor, it didn’t have a real finish. This match will give Crews and Corbin one more good match on their résumé.

Elsewhere, the Balor-Joe contact signing was a great segment that added fuel to the fire of the title picture. Plus at TakeOver we are likely to see Emma get her head kicked in, à la Ronda Rousey, by Asuka.
