Tuesday’s SmackDown taping took place from Dallas, TX. This was the first show to take place after WrestleMania 32. The event saw a tag team main event with the new No. 1 Contender to Roman Reigns’ WWE World Heavyweight Championship involved. There was also the debut of The Vaudevillains, which was pre-advertised on Raw.

With that in mind, here is a look at the spoilers for Thursday’s episode of SmackDown.
- Roman Reigns opened SmackDown to boos. He cut a promo on being the guy in WWE now that he has the title and said he’s not good or bad. AJ Styles came out and they traded words. Reigns talked down to Styles and walked away.

- The Vaudevillains defeated Sin Cara and Kalisto in their debut match.
- Natalya defeated Summer Rae with Charlotte and Ric Flair on commentary.
- The Miz retained the Intercontinental Championship over Zack Ryder after Maryse interfered and helped him win.
- Apollo Crews defeated Curtis Axel.
- Dean Ambrose defeated Tyler Breeze. Chris Jericho came out for his match and they exchanged looks.
- Cesaro and AJ Styles defeated Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho. Sami Zayn would come out to distract Owens, leading to Styles rolling him up for the win. Owens attacked Zayn. The Dudley Boyz ran out to attack Styles but Roman Reigns made the save. Reigns and Styles stared each other down before shaking hands to close SmackDown.
This seems like another good episode of SmackDown to kick off the “New Year” in WWE.
The Vaudevillains made their debut and won, which shouldn’t come as a surprise. No, Kalisto is not getting “buried” by losing in this match.

Zack Ryder is probably done with the Intercontinental Championship after losing the rematch. He’s probably going to be destined for the tag team division soon as Mojo Rawley being called up to continue their NXT team wouldn’t be surprising.
The booking of Reigns is increasingly getting better. It seems WWE has decided to go in another direction and it’s working well. He has become more aggressive and doesn’t care what anyone thinks. This is a great change from the soft Superman character he was playing for about two years. If this can be kept up longterm, then we may have something here.
Styles is slowly being turned into a main event talent, which is great. It still seems like we’re in for a swerve at WWE Payback, though. Either the Phenomenal One is turning heel or Reigns is, and two debuting Superstars could be involved from a stable that rhymes with Mullet Club.
