ROH: Home of the Real Tag Team Revolution
Sorry, WWE, ROH is still the best spot for tag team action.
It’s kinda cute watching WWE attempt to revitalize its tag team division, but as New Day might eloquently say It’s Still Booty.
While it’s great watching NXT teams like Big Cass and Enzo battle The Vaudevillains for the number one contender slot, the tag team division is still sketchy thanks to a general second class status the division hasn’t been able to shake since the Shield lost the titles. It’s more than just randomly having tag teams face each other because there’s nothing better to do with them, it’s about building stories and angles around the division.

For true lovers of exciting tag team action, the far more interesting and engaging option is Ring of Honor. ROH clearly understands the need to make tag teams just as involved in the overall product and not an afterthought as evidenced by at least six teams involved in varying degrees of angles.

The multi-time ROH tag team champions The Briscoe Brothers are preparing a challenge to the dominant champions War Machine. Naturally the world title feud has the division’s best story as War Machine looks to validate their title reign by defeating the all-time best ROH tag team, who once again has the itch to become the standard bearers of the division.
Meanwhile, the hated rivalry between The Addiction and the reformed (Motor City) Machine Guns is heating up. That feud began simply enough with Chris Sabin deciding he’d rather align with his former partner, Alex Shelley, than be the third man on the KRD totem pole with Christopher Daniels and Frankie Kazarian.

The Young Bucks don’t want to get ignored in the division either as they’ve recently gone after the Machine Guns, which seems like a modern dream match. Not to mention their never-ending war with ReDragon as neither team was fully able to emerge as the dominant victor.
Roppongi Vice also has longstanding beef with the Bucks based on their New Japan rivalry. KUSHIDA seems to be aligning himself with Matt Sydal to help their friends the Machine Guns stave off the Addiction and the Guns.
Coming off their failure to defeat War Machine for the ROH tag team titles, The All Night Express has been on a mini-rampage and it’s just a matter of time before a team steps up to put them down.
The tag team ranks will only get stronger with this announcement
Who they’ll come after is anyone’s guess, but their arrival should prove intriguing if Tama Tonga wants to double up the Bullet Club gold and go after War Machine.
