Sasha Banks Should Be the Next WWE Women’s Champion
By Jay Sichler
Following her anticipated return this past Monday on RAW, Sasha Banks has shown that she needs to be the next Women’s Champion.
Monday night on RAW featured the return of Sasha Banks to television after about a two-month absence. After losing a highly entertaining triple threat match at WrestleMania 32, against Becky Lynch and Charlotte, Banks took a brief sabbatical from television.
Sasha was supposed to be back early last month, however after a freak injury with the referee at a house show, Banks was placed on the shelf due to a concussion. The incident occurred when the referee accidentally kneed the Boss in the head.

With prior injury history many feared when she came back, she wouldn’t be utilized due to her past injury woes. However, as we saw on Monday, WWE is still ready and prepared to invest in Sasha.
Banks made a statement Monday Night, when she returned to attack her former best friend Charlotte. As soon as her music hit, Sasha got one of the loudest pops from the crowd that night.
After attacking Charlotte, it was clear that Sasha was back for one reason, to become the next Women’s Champion. This has been the feud fans have been waiting for months to see happen on the main roster.
The two feuded down in NXT, culminating in Banks defeating Charlotte for the NXT Women’s Championship. Fans thought that the duo would face each other in single’s action at WrestleMania, but WWE added (and deservedly so) Becky Lynch into the match as well.
The two now look set and primed to feud throughout the summer, with the rivalry culminating at SummerSlam in Brooklyn.
With that in mind, Sasha Banks needs to win the Women’s Championship at SummerSlam.

The Barclays Center in Brooklyn is the perfect place for Sasha to win the Women’s Championship. At NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn, she had one of the greatest matches in recent memory against Bayley at the event, and is still praised for the match almost a year later. That bout has been seen as a pivotal and important moment in women’s wrestling history. Winning the title in the arena where she made history last year would truly be full circle for her.
Banks carries herself as a top star, which is something a lot of the women have struggled to do. Charlotte comes close, but she clearly is under the former NXT Women’s Champion in terms of carrying herself. Sasha is also a fantastic wrestler, as she can have a very good match with almost any female on the main roster.
The draft will be an interesting day regarding where Sasha goes and the situation with the Women’s Championship. With the WWE just recently retiring the Divas Championship, it seems unlikely that they’ll bring it back.
With that being said Charlotte would then be allowed as champion to wrestle on both shows, allowing Sasha to feud with her, wherever she lands. Sasha has said that she would love to go to SmackDown.

Despite SmackDown now being invested in with the draft coming up, RAW will always be the marquee and flagship show. With Sasha showing that she is truly the marquee female in the company, she should really be apart of the RAW brand when the brand extension begins next month.
Sasha Banks has always been the thorn in Charlotte’s side. It seems throughout their careers, she is the only female Charlotte has never been able to get through. Sasha Banks took Charlotte’s NXT Women’s Championship away at NXT TakeOver: Rival, now she needs to take her WWE Women’s Championship.
