Dean Ambrose finally has the opportunity to shine as the WWE World Heavyweight Champion in a title defense against Seth Rollins on this Monday’s Raw.
There is always a silver lining for any bit of bad news. For the WWE, the suspension that has kept Roman Reigns off of television has provided other superstars to have a chance to see if they can handle being in the main event spotlight. We already know what Seth Rollins is capable of after his lengthy run with the WWE World Heavyweight Championship last year.
The question is how someone like Dean Ambrose will perform at the spotlight the WWE has put the Lunatic Fringe into. The fans are obviously behind Ambrose as they cheered loudly for his win in the Money in the Bank ladder match. They were even louder when he cashed in a few hours later to take the WWE World Heavyweight Championship away from Seth Rollins after his match with Reigns.

Their segment on Monday’s Raw definitely caught some attention with Rollins showing a more humorous heel with the exclusive “interview” with Reigns that made light of his failed test within WWE’s Talent Wellness Program. Ambrose then came out and gave out an extremely passionate promo about what he’s given to win the championship and what he’ll be willing to do to remain champion. It’s a promo that stands out as one of the best we’ve seen from him in the past year.

The new generation of WWE’s roster has slowly developed the past few years where guys like Ambrose and Rollins came into the WWE in 2012. It’s continued to evolve with even more international stars like Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn joining the WWE to establish a much different roster than the type we have seen in the company for the past decade.
So it’s important for guys like Ambrose and Rollins to be placed in this top of spotlight to help not only generate buzz for the Battleground event on July 24, but also for the upcoming live SmackDown episode that will feature the WWE Draft. There are already rumors going around about a potential title change either at Battleground, so the buzz is already surrounding the Ambrose vs Rollins match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
Fans have been behind these two superstars for a while, which will hopefully bring in viewers for the main event. That means this is the big chance for both wrestlers to show they deserve to remain in the championship picture for years to come, which is even more important for someone like Ambrose who is getting his first run with the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

If Ambrose is destined to lose the championship quickly – which will be a bit of a shame – hopefully a five-star quality match to go along with a boost in television ratings will hopefully provide him with another championship run that lasts more than a few weeks. Who knows what the WWE is planning for the long-term future? Maybe they want to build Ambrose to have a push similar to Daniel Bryan and win the championship at WrestleMania 33 in 2017.
