Paul Heyman’s WWE WrestleMania 30 Conspiracy Theory

Paul Heyman revealed an interesting theory on why Brock Lesnar defeated the Undertaker at WrestleMania 30.

Paul Heyman is now on tour with a stage show called “Inside The Ropes”.  At the opening night of the show in London, he revealed what could be one of the biggest shocking stories in the history of professional wrestling.  That the streak ended because Brock Lesnar truly and legitimately pinned the Undertaker.

This revelation if true would completely rewrite the history of WWE and add to the legend of Brock Lesnar (both good and bad).  However, is it a true account by Paul Heyman who’s WWE contract just expired or is it just an elaborate story told by one of the best in the business.

The theory given by Heyman goes that only a few people knew what was supposed to happen that night.  According to him, the referee didn’t know the ending, the music guy didn’t know the ending, only Vince, The Undertaker, Brock Lesnar, and himself knew what happened.  This makes sense as Vince likes to keep major occurrences such as the streak ending as secret as possible to keep the shock value that match gave everyone including the fans.

However, here is where Heyman’s hypothesis gets a little doubtful.  His new theory states that in the original booking the streak was supposed to continue, however, Brock took it on himself to legit pin the Undertaker.  Knowing that he would then become the top story in the WWE, Heyman states, he would be immune from being fired or even being punished as there was money to be made on the streak storyline.  Brock Lesnar is a legit fighter so it is very possible that had he wanted to beat the Undertaker for real he would have had no problems doing so.  However, I can’t see that happening.

First, I don’t believe Vince McMahon would allow anyone to not only break the booking but also injure a legend like the Undertaker in the process.  Vince has always said no one is bigger than the WWE and the lack of respect shown in this case would set a bad precedent.

Secondly, I’m not sure Brock would care to win or lose in the realm of WWE.  Based on his statements leading up to his recent UFC fight Lesnar, while having respect for the business, doesn’t keep trophies from any of his sports, nonetheless WWE.

Finally, there is no way the Undertaker ever would have worked with Lesnar again had his loss to Lesnar at WrestleMania 30 been a shoot.  While Heyman mentioned it took over a year for Undertaker to come back after WrestleMania 30, that really is not unusual in recent history as Taker pretty much only works WrestleMania.

While it is definitely and entertaining theory, it is likely one that is not true.  One thing that this video from Paul Heyman does show though is that he is absolutely the best in the business when it comes to both promo work and public speaking.  While what he says is completely far fetched he does interject a sliver of disbelief in what is real and scripted.  Well done Mr. Heyman.
