Why The Miz is WWE’s Best Heel Wrestler
By Juan Herrera
Since joining SmackDown after the brand split, The Miz has reignited his career to become the top heel in WWE.
There are few wrestlers on the roster who have benefited more from the brand split than The Miz. The current Intercontinental champion has seemingly turned his once stale character, into something so much more entertaining.
A lot of this success comes from how great of a heel The Miz is. He can make everyone in the crowd boo him and yet still be entertaining. This is no easy task. It takes a lot of skill to be that great on the microphone.
One of Miz’s more recent promos from the August 23 episode of Talking Smack shows just how talented he is. The Intercontinental champion went off on Daniel Bryan after the current SmackDown general manager called him a coward wrestler.
Miz did not hold anything back in response. He called Bryan a coward for retiring and asked him why he hasn’t left the company to go wrestle in bingo halls.
This segment was just so intense. Sure it might have all been part of the script, but when you can deliver a promo with that much emotion and fervor, it just seems so real.

This is what makes Miz so great. He has the skill to embarrass someone like Daniel Bryan on the mic. This wasn’t some jobber, this was Daniel Bryan, one of the most over wrestlers in WWE history.
Miz has the type of personality that really makes you hate him. Compared to other heels in the company like Kevin Owens, Chris Jericho and Rusev, The Miz can be really unlikable. He has this ability to draw heat from the crowd almost seemingly at will.
Take for example, the September 27 edition of SmackDown, where Miz made his return to his home state of Ohio. Instead of embracing the home crowd, the former Tough Enough star attacked the fans for accepting Lebron James as a hero. He even called himself the only hero in Cleveland.
It is amazing how Miz can do something like make the fans from his own home state boo him. He knows how to rile up a crowd and he knows how to be entertaining.
Sure Miz isn’t as great of a wrestler as AJ Styles, Finn Balor or Seth Rollins, but he doesn’t have to be because he does enough in the ring to tell a story.
Miz won’t ever out wrestle someone, so he doesn’t shy away from cheating. Whether it is outside interference from his wife Maryse or the use of pepper spray, Miz is willing to do whatever it takes to win.

Great heels try to win by any means necessary. While other heels in the company like Seth Rollins or AJ Styles often outwrestle opponents, they don’t get heat for beating faces clean.
Miz gets so much heat when he cheats to win, especially when he works with faces like Ziggler, who is a fan favorite. Whether you like the A-lister or not, it is wrong to say that the current Intercontinental champion isn’t entertaining.
His segments on SmackDown and Talking Smack are now must watch television. This is a huge difference from where the 35-year-old was prior to the brand split. He used to be really stale and his past feuds were lackluster. These things can’t be said now.
