NXT Championship Match
Bobby Roode (c) vs. Shinsuke Nakamura

Result: Bobby Roode defeats Shinsuke Nakamura to retain the NXT Championship.

Rating: 4.0 out of 5 stars

First, that Drew Galloway sighting. Would like to think that’s a sign of what’s to come in NXT, especially if Nakamura is on his way out. One man can’t replace him, so why not get multiple (Ohno, Galloway, Black)?

Crowd reactions started up the first five minutes of this match, as the fans couldn’t stop cheering between Nakamura and Roode. It didn’t lead to much action, and kept things slow, much like their first encounter. This actually lasted a while, until things started going to ringside.

Roode eventually went for the previously-injured knee of Nakamura’s, which sent him down and in pain. This lasted for a while, including a few long submissions from the champ. Nakamura eventually switched out of it and got his payback.

Things continued to pick up with Nakamura getting in control of things. However, Roode’s DDT looked like he had the win sealed up, until the King of Strong Style kicked out to keep this alive.

The turning point came when Roode brought the ring bell in with him. While the referee tried getting it away, Nakamura took advantage. but ate a huge spinebuster! After going back to the knee, Roode hit a DDT for the second time and won.

It took a very long time to get this match to the next level, but when it did, it felt pretty darn great. These two put on a similar but great bout to what they did at TakeOver: San Antonio, which also sparks the Nakamura-to-the-main-roster speculation.
