Raw was live in Grand Rapids, MI, this week. Finn Balor took on Karl Anderson, and Team Red continued its march towards Extreme Rules.
Previously on WWE Raw, the Universal Title situation was addressed for the first time in weeks. General manager Kurt Angle announced an Extreme Rules fatal five-way match to determine the number one contender. All five participants tried to establish dominance last week. Roman Reigns defeated Finn Balor, and Samoa Joe attacked Seth Rollins during The Kingslayer’s match against Bray Wyatt.
In bigger news last week, we learned nothing Golden can stay. As The Golden Truth was getting ready to take on Gallows and Anderson, Goldust viciously attacked R-Truth, effectively ending their partnership. What happened between the now former partners this week?
As the build towards Extreme Rules in two weeks continues, Raw headed to Grand Rapids, MI. In a smark’s worst nightmare, Finn Balor faced Karl Anderson. With many fans holding out hope for a WWE version of the Bullet Club with Balor, Anderson, and Luke Gallows, a match like this makes that seem less and less likely. Who came out on top?
Just a fair warning to everyone: I spent the weekend watching and writing about NXT TakeOver: Chicago and Backlash. Both shows were really good, so if I seem especially down on Raw this week, you know why. SmackDown and NXT really raised the bar, so there’s some work to be done on Monday nights.
