WWE: Dean Ambrose vs. The Miz Feud Matters After All
By Sarah Hirsch
While the feud has been going on for months, perhaps it is to set something bigger in motion for Dean Ambrose.
Lately, it seems like anything Dean Ambrose has done to put The Miz down and get his Intercontinental Championship back has gone up in smoke. The cat and mouse game between him and The Miz has been going on since their time on Smackdown Live. That gives perspective to how long the feud has went on. It seems fans are growing weary of the story, but as of this past Monday on Raw, it may have painted a bigger picture for Ambrose more than The Miz.
There is no doubt that between 2016 and 2017 The Miz has put on some of the best performances of his career. Miz continues to get better whether it’s cutting a promo or finding ways in the ring to keep his Intercontinental Championship. However, Ambrose has been in a plateau of sorts. He hasn’t lost his step in terms of his character as a whole, but what is the purpose for Ambrose in the long run?
Fans may have gotten their answer in the form of Seth Rollins. It looks like that the former brothers of The Shield will team up to battle The Miz and his entourage of Curtis Axel and Bo Dallas. The question is, is that does it set up a reunion of sorts for Ambrose and Rollins en route to a much anticipated Shield rebirth? Or does it set up for Ambrose to turn heel on Rollins?

It poses an interesting theory for both scenarios. If it is worth it for Ambrose down the road, then the feud with The Miz has served its purpose. In addition, Rollins has been in and out of feuds all year thus far with no major storyline. He’s been stuck in Raw purgatory in recent months, so for him and Ambrose to bury the hatchet on Raw was a big moment for both of them. What the company does with that from this point on is essential.
Fans know all too well how WWE likes to bide its time with some storylines. The Miz and Ambrose is a good example of a feud going on way too long. While the feud with The Miz may have gotten Ambrose and Rollins on the same page, it was stretched out as much as possible until then. Adding in Axel and Dallas gave the feud its longevity, thus helped write a new chapter. It’s not so much about the Championship anymore; it’s turned into a numbers game.
After SummerSlam, it is indeed time for both men to go their separate routes. For the event to be second to WrestleMania, the feud has to culminate. It may not have Ambrose winning gold, but maybe scoring a win for the good guys. What is next for either man is yet to be determined post-SummerSlam. It is anyone’s guess as to what the plans could be for the fall.

The feud may have just set up for the start of a Shield reunion. With all three members on Raw, it is too big of an opportunity for WWE to waste. But on the flip side, good friends have always made for better enemies. Karma just may serve Rollins in the form of Ambrose. Fans remember how much fun their battles were back in 2014. With that, the long feud between Ambrose and Miz may have been worth it after all.
