WWE: Bold Predictions for September 4-10
By Bryan Heaton
What does WWE have in store for fans this week? We take a look at some things that may take place over the next seven days.
One of my favorite pastimes as a WWE fan is to try and guess what’s going to happen in the future. I don’t go out of my way to spoil myself. But trying to get into the heads of the creative department is a good way to kill some time.

Taking a look at the upcoming week of television, there’s a lot to consider. Let’s look at the big story on Raw: John Cena, Roman Reigns, and their battle of words. After last week’s crazy promo war – and some miscommunication as tag partners – there’s no telling what may happen. My guess? Somehow, they’ll end up in yet another tag match, but this time it will be Cena who strikes Reigns. And the Big Dog will not take it as well as Cena has for the past two weeks. Tensions between the old guard and the new face are reaching a tipping point, and this week may very well see things boil over.
How about the already-announced steel cage match between Big Show and Braun Strowman? We’ve already seen these guys destroy a wrestling ring this year. Could ripping apart a steel cage be next? Well, I say yes. Strowman has shown freakish strength while tipping over an ambulance, so why not tear a chain link fence apart with his bare hands?
On SmackDown Live, Team Blue is down an announcer. I’ve heard names like Renee Young and Nigel McGuinness floated around as possible replacements. But knowing WWE, it’ll be a letdown when the replacement is announced. I figure it’ll be David Otunga, keeping him away from Raw but letting him come back to the announce table.
In action on SmackDown, Randy Orton and Shinsuke Nakamura will clash to determine the number one contender for Jinder Mahal’s WWE Championship. Both guys have lost to Mahal in recent weeks, but it’s Nakamura who has the better appeal at the moment. Orton may have the upper hand with his patented RKO “from outta nowhere,” but Nakamura is too hot to contain right now. Look for Nakamura to pick up the win, and maybe Orton to drift towards a more heel edge in the aftermath.
