Main Event: Women’s Fatal Four Way

Charlotte Flair def. Tamina via Big Boot

Rating: 3/5

As announced earlier in this episode, the winner of this match will go on to face Natalya for the SmackDown Women’s Championship at Hell in a Cell.

The real wild card here is Tamina. Since her return, WWE has been trying to build Tamina as a monster, similar to Nia Jax. But Tamina doesn’t have Nia’s size, she isn’t very good on the mic, and she certainly isn’t going to out wrestle anyone. However, that hasn’t really stopped WWE in the past. A victory in a Fatal Five Way would easily protect the other women while giving Tamina the victory.

Although she started out looking strong in the beginning the other women took over. Eventually they had Tamina take the pin after a big boot from Charlotte. They didn’t even bother to protect her in losing, which could have easily been done with a double submission hold.

Regardless, Charlotte Flair walks into Hell in the Cell the favorite to win the Women’s SmackDown Champion. It will be interesting if it becomes a Hell in a Cell match, because of Charlotte’s history and the potential for a cash in opportunity.

As an aside, it’s always great to see Becky Lynch compete, even if it is a foregone conclusion that she’ll lose.

Well, that’s it for this week’s episode. Just when it seemed like SmackDown was finally gaining some momentum, they botch it. Sami Zayn was, once again, nowhere to be found, and hasn’t competed in a match in weeks. With a roster as talented as this one, I just don’t understand how SmackDown has a hard time putting on interesting angles and matches. This week was pretty disappointing.
