WWE Raw: Winners and Losers for October 2
By Bryan Heaton
Who were the big winners and losers on this week’s episode of Raw?
After WWE Raw on Monday, there are a handful of superstars who are seeing their stock rise. Likewise, a couple of superstars look like they’ve hit a rough spot. A pro wrestler’s career is always full of peaks and valleys, but in WWE they get magnified because of the number of eyes on them at all times.
With that said, let’s take a look at some superstars on the move after Raw this week.
Winners
Kalisto
It’s been a long time coming, but Kalisto’s jump to 205 Live is the best thing to happen to the luchador since the new gear. And with the story in place that got him there, he’s got a clear path to a championship match right off the bat.
With Enzo Amore inciting the rest of the 205 Live roster against him, they all atacked him. This violated a “no-contact” provision that Enzo had Raw GM Kurt Angle put in place. So Angle revealed that Enzo’s claim that no one could have a title match was accurate.
However, Angle also revealed that he had signed a new superstar to 205 Live – one who wasn’t affected by the violation of the order. Much to the Cruiserweight Champ’s dismay, out came Kalisto, who immediately took Enzo out. With TLC around the corner, perhaps a cruiserweight ladder match will be in order – we all know how Kalisto fares with ladders.
Seth Rollins
Really, Rollins, Ambrose and Reigns could all be winners just from the closing moments of the episode. But Rollins gets the spot here due to his fantastic show opening match against Braun Strowman.
Last week, Rollins decided to be less predictable and challenge Strowman to a match. Giving The Monster Among Men a full week to study film made Strowman even more devastating than usual. Rollins had a tough time getting any kind of offense in. But he did manage a good bit of a comeback at one point.
Just by virtue of issuing the challenge and not backing down, Rollins comes out as a winner. He took it to the most destructive force in WWE and lived to see another day – likely with two other dudes in flak jackets.
Losers
Titus O’Neil
I almost feel bad labeling Titus as a loser, but he hasn’t had a match in months (or so it seems) and comes out flat? Can’t really raise your stock that way.
With everything going on between Apollo Crews and Elias, it wasn’t surprising that Titus would get involved. The CEO of Titus Worldwide took on the Drifter, but wasn’t able to get much going at all. Even a distraction from Crews on the outside – a distraction created by Elias himself – wasn’t enough to open up enough space for Titus to make it a win.
At this stage in his career, Titus is likely better suited as a manager/brand ambassador. His in ring days may be winding down, especially if he goes out and has uneven matches like this week.

Mickie James
I know what you’re thinking: But Mickie James almost beat Nia Jax single handedly, and then became number one contender for the Raw Women’s Championship! How can she be a loser?
One word: Depends.
Poor Mickie is in the midst of a rehash of the “Piggie James” storyline from the late 2000s.
The only difference is instead of being fat (which she isn’t/wasn’t), now she’s old (she isn’t). But over the course of several backstage segments, Mickie was given a walker, adult diapers, and was told Alexa Bliss wouldn’t face her because she’s a “mature woman.”

There’s so many other, better ways to build to the TLC match between James and Bliss. Why those aren’t being used is beyond me. And for someone so talented and beautiful to be reduced to “old lady” is just terrible treatment from the writers and producers.
