WWE SmackDown: Dolph Ziggler Must Feud With Tye Dillinger
By Tom Thomas
Dolph Ziggler needs to move on to feuding with Tye Dillinger on WWE SmackDown Live once he is done with Bobby Roode. This could benefit both performers.
Dolph Ziggler will head to WWE SmackDown Live’s latest PPV, Hell in a Cell, this Sunday to face Bobby Roode. By any indication, the result of this match is a no-brainer. There is no outcome to this ordeal where Ziggler comes out on top. Sadly, he would come out in an even worse state than he was in. Which is why he needs a good program once he is done with this forgettable feud.
Despite being immensely talented in the ring, Ziggler has failed to make it big in the audience. There is no doubt about his skills or about his ability to get over with the crows. Regardless, Ziggler has floundered around the mid-card instead of flourishing on the main event scene. The abundance of big names and arrival of even bigger names have taken a toll on him. Moreover, Ziggler’s entire career has been a mangled mess of bad timing.
A veteran performer in this new era, Dolph has taken on a new heel persona where he mocks legends of the past. He primarily has issues with people who have a flashy entrance. Ziggler’s arguments always remains the same. Nobody does things better in the ring than he does. To an extent he is right to say so. But this shtick needs some kind of change. That is exactly what a program with Tye Dillinger could do.
Some of you might ask why Tye? What specialty does he possess to make Dolph stand out once again? Take a minute to compare the two of them. They have both struggled for many years to stay relevant in the WWE. Dillinger spent a long long time in the development program before finally getting the call-up. Though Ziggler did not have as much bad luck as Tye, his case is not entirely different.
After being called up to the main roster, Tye Dillinger floundered around for quite a while before locking horns with Baron Corbin. Yet, surprisingly he has not been added to the US title match at Hell in a Cell. Despite putting on some great performance that is. Sounds eerily similar right? However, there is one thing that separates Tye Dillinger from Dolph Ziggler.
A kick-ass flashy entrance with an awesome theme music. Moreover, the ‘ten’ chants are infectious. That is something Ziggler could be jealous of. The entrance could clearly set Dillinger as a target under Dolph’s radar. In an ideal world, creative could essentially start building feud just like that. However, to ensure this does not become another lethargic program involving Ziggler, something else need to be done.

It is safe to say Tye is out of the Hell in a Cell card. Frustrating as it is, this could come into play later on. As I said in my Hell in a Cell predictions post, I don’t doubt Dolph will job out to Bobby Roode. This is enough to sent the Show Off to an even deeper state of frustration and paranoia. The following week on SmackDown Live, he could try to recruit Tye Dillinger on his side.
Dolph could pitch in for a tag team with Tye and to find more success in that division. Now creative can play with their options here. Seeing as the tag division on the Blue Brand lacks depth and seeing as the Hype Bros could implode soon, a new team wouldn’t hurt.
However, in the long run, Dillinger has to realize he would fare better as a singles performer. He could even point this out to Ziggler right away when he makes the pitch. An irate Ziggler could then be fuming with rage. Soon, in the following weeks, he could try to play mind games with the Perfect Ten. Ziggler could even mock the Perfect Ten’s entrance to generate heat.
Additionally, with someone like Dillinger, Ziggler actually has a chance to win a match or two. That is not necessarily the case against someone like Bobby Roode. It goes without saying that in the end Dillinger should be the one coming out on top. Hopefully, by that time, Baron Corbin would win the US title. Dillinger could then resume his program with Corbin over the United States title.

Ziggler’s mind games and passionate promos could infuse a new form of villainy in him. Despite losing this feud, he could come out as a more dangerous heel. Ziggler could continue infusing mind games to create an added edge to his character. The best case scenario would be for him to insert himself into the US title feud and potentially another feud with Dillinger where he eventually wins the title. What are your thoughts? Would you like to see these two feud? More importantly, would you like to see Ziggler win the US title?
