 Winner: Jinder Mahal

It’s been a while since anyone could say that Jinder Mahal looked like a real winner. Sure, he’s been winning almost all of his matches of late. And he’s been WWE Champion now for longer than guys like AJ Styles, Edge, and Roman Reigns. But because of constant interference from the Singh Brothers, and a horrible, racist feud with Shinsuke Nakamura, Mahal has looked pretty bad of late.

But this week on SmackDown, the Modern Day Maharaja issued a challenge that, while most definitely ill-advised, makes him seem like a confident champion. Believing that he’s beaten everyone on the SmackDown roster, Mahal challenged Brock Lesnar to a match at Survivor Series.

It had been rumored for days, but apparently the Lesnar-Mahal match is in the works. Pitting world champ vs. world champ isn’t particularly wise in my opinion. But at least this challenge is something new, and Jinder comes across like a true cocky heel. He thinks he can beat anyone (even if he can’t), and that’s what you want from your champion.

The segment ended with AJ Styles getting the better of Mahal, but we can let that slide. It probably won’t be too long before Styles is WWE Champion again, but for right now everything is about the impending Lesnar-Mahal match.
